Thank you for the kind encouragement. Hopefully I will find the strength when the moment of truth arrives.
Love,
i have been struggling ... i mean really struggling.
i feel a moral obligation to come forward and publicly support the work that bill, barbara and the pandelo's are doing.
i have first hand knowledge that these things that they are saying are true.

Well .... I made my decision and it is in the hands of .....to whom it may concern now. I just sent this email to the local NBC News affiliate.
*********************************************************************
To whom it may concern,
On Tuesday, May 28th Dateline NBC will be profiling Jehovah's Witnesses and their policies on the reporting of child sexual abuse. The individuals who are to be featured in this episode are currently under attack by the Jehovah's Witness organization, even excommunicated for coming forward.
If you would be interested in following the Dateline airing with a local interest story, I would be willing to talk to you. I am both a survivor of childhood abuse at the hands of church members and have been sanctioned for not "screaming" (or bringing the matter immediately to the church elders) when the abuse happened.
I am the firstborn of six generations of Jehovah's Witnesses and am VERY familiar with church policy, doctrine and practice. I feel strongly that policies need to be changed for the protection of the children within the organization.
This is not an easy email to send, because I know that speaking up publicly could cause me to be excommunicated or "disfellowshipped" by the organization. This would mean that I would be shunned by all active members of the organization. In my case that would mean everyone I ever loved for the first 30 years of my life.
This is really a lose/lose situation for me. If I don't come forward and add my voice to the ones who are calling for change ... I will not be able to live with myself. If I do ... my loved ones will not be able to live with me. I have to believe that even the possibility of a change in JW policy that will make this organization a safer place for the children of Jehovah's Witnesses is worth the sacrifice.
I am forwarding several news stories on the issues mentioned above. If you have need to contact me ... please feel free to call xxx-xxx-xxxx (Day) or xxx-xxx-xxxx (Evening). Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
BobsGirl

i recieved a forwarded e-mail from a jw today which discusses the pedophile issue and bill bowen.
unfortunately, i don't know how to post it here.
it quotes bowen and some of his concerns, and contains one statement, presumably by jr brown or another wts representative, saying that jws do not condone such abuse.
If you were willing to forward it to one of us that you trust ... we could remove your name and just post the content of the email. I would be willing to, anyway.

Thanks everyone for your comments. SK and Imbue, I have come a long way, and I am definately ready to live in freedom ... I am just not sure that I am ready for the inevitable loss of my family.
Prisca, I think the worst that could happen is that I wouldn't be allowed to meet my sister's brand new baby girl. Being cut off from my nieces and nephews would be awful.
Amarie and Joy, Thank you so much for your unconditional support.
Outnfree, I believe that finding the courage to speak out will in the long run contribute more to my peace of mind. I know that I am strong and capable .... I just hate that doing the right thing comes at such a high price.

I have first hand knowledge that these things that they are saying are true. I have also experienced the bitter effects of coming forward. It is tearing me up. Do I have the same brand of courage? Am I willing to let go of everyone I loved for the first 30 years of my life? Or will I ever remain a silentlamb?
I haven't been able to eat or sleep. I keep vascilating between what feels safe and what feels right. God ... this f***ing sucks!
Edited because I am having trouble remembering forum code.

here is a letter sent to the judge by then watchtower counsel olin moyle.. he sued the judge and the society for slander and won a 50,000.000 libel case against them.
if that be the case you have not had all the facts presented to you.
it was stated by a sister that was one of the things you had to get used to at bethel.
RR,
Thank you for posting the letter and the work that you are doing to collect this historical information. I can't wait for the next installment.

Hilda,
I would find it much easier to read and respond to your posts if you would drop the fake accent. It adds nothing to your credibility. It is distracting.
