I have found that in the excerpts that were relayed here on the forum, that there is more confirmation that at time the WTS misquotes it's sources. Hell, if it would plagerize pictures and swap them from single magazines to bound volumes, and change the passages in the Bible by adding "Jehovah" where it wasn't, then why not misquotes others too!
Proof for me, will be proof for others when they come to where we are!
Thanks heaps Barbara and Mr. Anderson

Is it possible to hijack your publisher card from cong. records?
by watch the tower ini wonder if anyone has any ideas on how to remove your publisher card from the cong.
secretary?.
i've completely faded but ppl in my former cong.

The society has a "protocol" and it was in a KM, that the record cards have to be kept for 8 years. If you move, then 8 years of cards should follow you. Periodically, the Body of elders get all the cards out, inactive etc and go through them as directed by their CO or the society and are then supposed to follow up and visit the "inactive ones".
They also use personal judgements [bias] to determine reason why someone wouldn't be called on. i.e he threatened to shoot the next dub that sets foot on the place, or that they are a hard nut to crack or........
But the magic figure is 8 years.
Side point, before I packed in being an elder/secretary, I shredded heaps of these cards.........naughty but very satisfying, got rid of all but the current personal ones too!! -

Death Notices
by geevee ini am wondering if this happens in your area.
recently two dubs have died in our region.
they were older people and have been jw's for many years and supposedly they have had many years of dub service.

Thanks for the replies.
My point is that when people die, their friends, work collegues, club associates, relatives and so on all place an obituary notice in the paper. It says that they well well thought of, loved, respected or a myriad of other things.
Sometimes these notices are in the paper for days and there are columns of them.
Our local paper will not print an obituary notice until the family has placed theirs. But then once that is done, everyone else can the place one. I know that they can be expensive, but if you keep it short, then it isn't so bad. It does let the community know that they were cared about.
But I cant recall the WTS saying that JW's cant do it if they want. It is just that locally they hardly ever do. Are they just tight with their money? Did they care about the person at all?
My two cents worth. -

A woman!!!!!!!!
by Gill ini was speaking to my mother and was informed by her that in their congregation, in the leicester area, a woman does all the accounting and paperwork now.
this is a congregation with 6 elders and 7 mss.. is this normal, that a woman has to do the secretarial work?
what's the point of having a congregation secretary then?.

Hi, this sounds unusual in Dub speak. It doesn't say much for the abilities of any of the elders or ms's. There are occasions where a sister might do some of those duties, but only if there was a shortage of "man" power, or if there happened to be no one, not even a baptized male who couldn't do it.
Hope she covers her head!!!!! ;-)) -

Hi all,
I am wondering if this happens in your area.
Recently two Dubs have died in our region. They were older people and have been JW's for many years and supposedly they have had many years of dub service. They should be well respected members of the JW community with the possiblity of many friends.
YET... apart from the immediate family, there are NO death notices in the paper. Nothing, absolutley zip. No JW's have even tried the silent witness by placing a notice in for their dear friend and saying Jehovah or new system or ressurection.......
I am not aware of any directive in any form saying dubs shouldn't do this.
Does it happen in your area? Is anybody aware of why it does/doesnt happen?

So, You Want To Be An Elder?
by metatron ini'm writing this in the spirit of full disclosure and honesty.
if you really want to be an elder, you should get the whole story and honestly.
weigh how it may affect your life.

Metatron, I love the way you have stripped this subject down to bare bones, open and honest. I also love the feedback from everyone else. Having been there and done that, I can only agree and wish that I had wised up a long time ago.
I tried and tried to do my best, shielding the poor innocents from what I thought were over eager elders, only to have it blow up in your face.
I refused an assignment, they said in this open forum we can be honest and nominate for the position, I nominated, but then an "old boy" said he wanted an older elder on the job, so that was me out. They then had a more menial job that needed to be done, perhaps I could do that? I said NO I AM NOT INTERESTED IN DOING THAT....
You know what happened after that? We had at that meeting the "Circuit Assembly" overseer, he decides who gives talks at conventions......
Just one experience stating the same. Not to mention late nights, consumning petty problems [that Satan....he's saying dont blame me, I had nothing to do with it!!] Politics, Team playing, and on and on.
