That Daniel book is so crusty. It was bad enough taking the study in it the first time, I couldn't bear having to sit through one minute of it now.
You should stay home for ALL the meetings, enjoy your extra day and a half each week......

So after the "alleged ped" Jaracz, who must be the one in the power seat, who is next in line to the golden throne? Who of the old guys sits there dribbling on their shirt/tie and has to have someone help them with their bodily functions?
Or do the just do the crossie in the AWAKE! mag.
Who is Teds right hand man? Who on the GB does the dirty work? -

HOW MANY THOUGHT THEY WOULD SURVIVE
by beezknees ini'm sure this will have been discussed before..but i am new here, so i was wondering how many of you when you where active jw's actually beleived you were going to survive armageddon.
i personally being brought up in the 'truth' used to lie in bed frightened of it coming or world events always thinking i was too bad a person to survive, and even as an adult i always felt i was never doing enough or good enough to be 'chosen' for survival when the end came u were always made to feel like you should be doing more as though you could earn your salvation.
i have talked to someone else who i know has left and they felt the same, i was wondering how many of you guys actually beleived you would make it through armageddon

So the question begs to be asked of all JW's: Are you saved?
Most can not answer in the affirmative. Yet they can jusge me as NOT being saved, because I dont go any more. And they can look at me with disdain and contempt. Like I am worthless trash and yet they are NOT yet saved!!
How do you figure it out? -

So we all felt that we were dead meat....I used to have nightmares about judgement day and having to beg for my life. I also dream't about telling authorities where the JW's were when the persecution broke out....wonder if that was a vision!!
It is a wonderful thing not to be concerned about an event that isn't gonna happen. What a waste of head time it all was. -

When do you think WTBS became a cult?
by lighthouse1956 inmost believe it was rutherford took over, any ideas?
-
geevee
James Free, yes we want to avoid using WTS tactics. Have you read Crisis of Conscience? Check out the WTS tactics there. Have you read the book[s] by Steven Hassan on Combatting Cult Mind Control? I think that the book is well worth considering, and then make up your own mind as to whether it is a cult or not.
JWFacts, I think one of the greatest perpetrators that is missing from the list is FRED FRANZ. The guy must have been some kind of control freak. Imagine an old single guy deciding on whether oral sex is OK or not. Or that masturbation leads to homosexuality....this guy decided most of the major policy that still entraps many today. Most of the "new light" is his old light mushed up again.
Plus Franz goes all the way back. I have no doubt that Rutherford had a huge part in the forming of controlling policy. What a wet blanket he must have been, no one bought him a decent birthday present so he outlawed it. And Russelll, how did he die again? 2 years after two failed end times he dies on a train.....conveniently, he didn't have to live with his shame. -

New here. ?? for one time elders or co's
by lost_light06 ina thought of a question this weekend and was hoping a former cong.
elder or circuit overseer could answer it for me.
what exactly is contained on a publishers card?

It may be a little different now moggy lover.
If you are involved in anything "judicial" a record is kept on the congregation file. It may have been for 10 years specifically once, but 7-8 years would be about it, BUT lets say the secretary is a bit of a slacker, or he and the PO or even CO may think they have justification, they will keep the JC record indefinitely.
The society get the official "s79" form, which used to be a card if the person is disfellowshipped. It get stamped and sent back to the cong and when they get re-instated, it gets sent back to the society for their holy spirited blessing.
When the CO comes around he wants to know if anyone is on restrictions. [usual punishment for anything judicial] He sometimes wants to know the deal.
All serves to keep the sheep under control. In the book about Cult Mind Control, Steven Hassan talks about the Cult of Confession. The confessing of sins, both past and present, keeps the individual "humble".... keeps them down, under control....Now people know your sh*t. -

If you were newly inactive, did you feel pressure to attend the Memorial?
by truthseeker in.
i'd be interested in hearing your experiences, if you were newly inactive and felt pressured to go to the memorial.
did the jw's pressure you to go or did you feel guilty for missing the lord's evening meal (well, we all miss it anyway when we pass it round)

Once at a district convention, a guy wandered in and sat in front of us. He had a couple of attendants tagging him. As the public talk ended and people called their hands of, he got real agigtated.
AS the clapping died down, he stood up and yelled at the top of his voice: "Use your instinct" we were dumbfounded at this guy, didn't understand his problem at all, but now...
He was absolutely correct. Use your instinct. Do you make the choices or are they made for you? What happens to you if you choose another path? Are you penalized for that choice? Will your "friends" still love and respect you? Will they still seek to associate with you?
Use your instinct. It is only JW speak that has us needing to belong to a true and correct and only one organization. -

Do you know why the WT wants to be called "the branch" and not "society?
by flag inone elder in my (or ex) cong.
is always correcting himself every time he says "society".
he always goes "upps, excuse me the branch says this and that bla bla bla bla".

This is why in the late 80's and earliy 90's all the suckey wannabe's started going on about the faithful slave says this, the faithful slave says that and so on, praying for the faithful slave blah blah blah, even caught myself doing it at times.....
As if the entire group supposedly represented by the "faithful slave" ever had any real input into the www at all. The GB trying to shift the spot light to take the heat of themselves. Why else did they cease being members of the corporation of the WTS, to stop from being sued by all the pedophile victims. And maybe, hopefully one day those who have lost family because of the blood issue and what about those of us who had wasted years and years swollowing the BS?
If you redirect who is responsible, it just gets lost in words.....
That's my soap box and I am now off it!![class]
