Anyone watch the US TV show "House"?
by Nathan Natas init's a medical show, taking it's title from the name of the main character, dr. gregory house.. in last night's episode, a person with a failing liver was "connected" to a live sedated pig.
in the story, the pig's liver was supposed to perform the blood cleansing that the patient's failing liver could not.. is this based on fact?
is there such a procedure?

Great new book
by Jankyn ini just finished reading leaving the saints: how i lost the mormons and found my faith by martha beck.
beck is a regular columnist for o magazine (oprah's mag).
the book details how she survived sexual abuse in her home (at the hands of her father, a big-shot mormon scholar), and how she eventually left the mormon church.

Prove yourself to be suckers!
by Norm inthe watchtower society has never been part for the innovative crowd, on the contrary they seem pretty unable to change much as time goes bye.
this should hardly be surprising as with most christian fundamentalists they have gotten stuck in biblical times, where they ricochet around between noah and the time of jesus.
mostly they seem to favor a society that is a mix of old and new testament rules randomly picked by the watchtower society and elevated to great importance at will, according to their immediate needs.. take for instance, the endless yammering and harping on how incredibly close the "jehovah's day" is.

Praise the Lord and pass the biscuits
by JustTickledPink ini went to the house of blues in orlando this morning for their "gospel brunch" services.
it was like church, well a southern black church with gospel singing, electric guitar, lots of the holy spirit... we all testified we were a witness to the lord and said many a halelujah!!!.
music, singing, and dancing... all while eating cheese grits, bacon, roast beef, shrimp, and drinking a few mimosas.

Hindu's sacred cows vs JWs
by JustTickledPink ini was watching the discovery channel the other day and they pictured the "sacred" or "holy" cows that wander around the hindu's land.. i thought about how many generations have held that belief and wondered if there are any younger generations that question the validity of that belief?
do you think there are any rebels?
any independant thinkers that see a cheeseburger rather than holiness?.

Starbucks and Subway in church!!!!
by JustTickledPink inmy husband went to church in tn a few years back with a friend for easter and told me they had a starbucks inside the church.
it was just like barnes and noble or the local target now, have their own starbucks.
so i found this article in the christian science monitor and it says there are churchs with subway franchises in them... i think that is hilarious.. http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/1229/p01s04-ussc.html.

Awake! from 1968 predicting 1975
by JustTickledPink ini'm not sure if anyone here has posted this, i saw it on another site and had to share it, considering all the talk about 1975 lately.
i was born in 1974 and my mother did count on it being the end, based on articles just like this one.
