I can’t stand his sanctimonious attitude in his writing as if he’s got everything figured out and he’ll tell you what’s what. This from somebody who treated his family like dirt. I don’t know how anyone can read a whole book of that stuff. 🤮

An elder told me that blatant DF offences that 90 days doesn't apply thus you can't just screw around, repent and get reinstated after 90 days.
Supposedly more direction was given to elders. If the new relaxed rules don’t apply to fornication or apostasy, then what’s left? Doesn’t that account for 90%+ of cases?

This is not enough to retire on which is what he wants to do. The chances are decent that we'll see a wrinkled up prune face complete with jowls going on about how much JWs have changed since "back in my day". If I were him I'd worry about whether he qualifies for a Croatian pension or not.
I doubt there’ll be a YouTube by then. I doubt there’ll be a pension system by then either. It will will be utopia or oblivion, but the idea that society will carry on for the next few decades the same way it’s been going for the past few hundred years is the most unlikely scenario of all, imo of course.

Maddening, isn't it?
At least it’s satisfying to know his support and presumably his income has dropped by over a half.
In some ways the continuing level of support is the worst possible outcome for him because he really hates doing these stupid videos and pretending he cares but he’s trapped.

June 2024 WT: Don't talk about Anthony Morris
by neat blue dog inthe latest study edition mentions hypothetical scenarios of jws who are no longer serving at bethel or no longer elders, etc.
and says we shouldn't speculate, as defaming them could border on slander.. we could unintentionally defame someone by spreading negative information.
..... would it be proper to speculate on the reasons why these adjustments were made and to share that opinion with others?.

That was more of a deletion than an adjustment, wasn’t it? By adjustment I’d have thought they meant beards, shunning, dress, who will survive Armageddon etc.
Remember the talk Samuel Herd gave with the enigmatic reference to “suggestments”? Such an appropriate Watchtower portmanteaux.
Edit: oh I see the WT was talking about appointments and deletions.

The change is the appeal committee is allowed to arrive at the their own decision about the repentance of the individual based on their own assessment, not merely review the earlier decision of the original committee. This seems like a major change, but like everything else about these announcements we’ll need to see how it pans out in practice.

The change to the appeal procedure is pretty significant. In fact maybe it’s the most significant change when you think about it. Because in the past an appeal committee was only allowed to overturn the decision if they were convinced that the original committee had been wrong about the person not being repentant at the original judicial committee. In other words it was not good enough if the person had become repentant meantime, the only function of the appeal committee was to assess whether the original judgement had been correct on the day, not to make a new judgement in light of any new expressions of repentance. In practice it has been reported that appeals very rarely overturned the original decision, and only in cases that were so clearly wrong or, more likely, damaging to the organisation in some way if processed that the circuit overseer or branch got involved to reverse the decision.
The new procedure sends out the clear message that the GB wants elders to avoid disfellowshipping people at all costs. Because now the appeal committee is allowed to reassess the repentance of the person at the second committee and, reading between the lines, encouraged to actively look for signs of repentance in order to avoid disfellowshipping, which is as different to the old appeal procedure as you could imagine.

I wouldn’t get too excited, JWs are already practiced at the art of “marking” people they consider “spiritually weak” and enacting the “soft shun”.
In a way it could be worse in certain situations, because what’s worse somebody who won’t speak to you at all, or someone who will act as if they’re friendly but consistently keep you at arm’s length?

Is the fight over?
by nicolaou ini'm still digesting these changes and i think i'll reserve judgement for some months until we see how it all plays out in reality.. however, if the disfellowshipping process really has been de-fanged and shunning is beginning it's retreat into the society's past then what excuses will there be in the years to come for anyone who wants to leave?.
i can almost understand why they've done this.
more carrot, less stick.

I don’t think it goes anywhere near far enough. As it stands there will still be a lot of shunning, including minors.
Plus there’s no change to shunning apostates, which could be interpreted as anyone who doesn’t believe any more.
As you say, we’ll need to see how it plays out.
