  He is obviously cock a hoop at his latest patron windfall and won’t lose a minute to rub it in the faces of his ‘detractors’. Pride comes before a fall LE. You might think you can mock Kim now but your actions come back to haunt you. You’d think if you could have learned anything the past year it would be that.

  He clearly stated in one of his videos (I think the Andrew Gold interview) that ‘exploitation in Thailand is a conversation worth having’. I’m still wondering when he’s going to have that conversation that he says is worth having. Because ever since it has been brushed under the carpet or false impressions given by this huge distraction over whether it makes any material difference whether exploitation of vulnerable people was the primary purpose of the visit or just a secondary pursuit. LE arrogantly thinks it makes a difference but I don’t think it makes much difference to the people involved or to victims of abuse he would claim to represent.

  Memory has got nothing to do with it. You are simply lying about what happened and saying I said stuff I never said. I have been highly complimentary about the historical work of Vienne/Schulz for years. I have been promoting it to numerous on this website and elsewhere for years. I’ve bought copies and recommended it to others who have bought copies. Seven years ago I described ‘A Separate Identity’:

  This book is the most comprehensive history of the early Bible Students ever written. In an appendix it discusses the issue of Russell's claimed links with freemasons.

Like a compete fool, I have long overlooked the fact that you can’t withstand even the mildest criticism or factual correction, as this thread has shown yet again in spades, and gone on to praise the books regardless.

  What makes you think he stopped? He doesn’t think he did anything wrong. He’s separated now. He makes trips to Hungary and who knows where else. He is lying about not having money. I can’t think of a single reason why he would have stopped. He probably upped the frequency to ‘cheer himself up’.

  Over 500 patrons now. Wow there are plenty of gullible people out there. Even if you’d never heard a word of the scandal, to be convinced to send him money on the basis of that video. Wow. He will do this again, every few months or so, I suppose, because apparently it does work. He’s probably surprised himself how well it worked.

  A slight silver lining to the whole thing, in terms of comeuppance, is that I am absolutely convinced he hates making these Watchtower videos now. He detests it like a personal prison he has constructed for himself and he can’t see any way out. When he described walking away and leaving the channel up, or doing occasional videos he was actually describing his dream scenario. As it is, his unexpected success in reaching 500 has created an expectation that he keep making these stupid videos. I am sure there is a large part of him that is filled with absolute dread at being kept on the hook for filling any significant portion of his time churning out this drivel.

  Yes I suspect that’s right, they will wait a while, or remove the videos gradually so it doesn’t look too abrupt. It possibly depends on what AMIII himself does next, or how much of the story leaks. It is encoded into their own system of discipline that the extent of public knowledge of a sin is almost as important as the sin itself when determining the consequences. So if they keep a lid on whatever happened they might be more easy about letting the videos hang around than if some sordid tale becomes public.

  You have my profoundest apologies. I confused you with another poster, Sea Breeze, who attacked me, my uncle and mother. Though you did contribute to the 'conversation' you did not attack any of us.

  I think the fact that the vaccines in many places are no longer being pushed and are being withdrawn for younger people is tacit admission that the harms are not trivial in relation to the injections. The question is the scale and how much will be admitted, because companies and governments obviously share huge incentives to minimise acknowledgment of harm.

  I still think the injections are a net benefit for some people, we just suffered from not having an open discussion of the balance of risks, and people the freedom to make their own informed decisions.

  I am so sorry Annie you have lost your mum at such a young age. That was younger even than I imagined. I don’t know if Watchtower history interests you at all. But even if it doesn’t it’s good to know your mum’s work is appreciated and made an impact. In particular a recent book by historian Zoe Knox acknowledged the contribution to the subject. I know many who will be hopeful about the next volume being published.

  And when you mentioned that you couldn’t reply on another thread about JW connections with Adventism, because your uncle was in hospital, I wished you and all your family the best.

  Not everyone has the time to watch the livestream or hear all the damning facts of the situation. People understandably look for shortcuts when trying to figure out what’s going on in any given situation so the easiest way to help them is to point out a couple of things: 1) well over half of his strongest supporters, his patrons, have abandoned him since his scandal broke 2) qualified professionals such as the psychiatrist Dr Das have said he has the characteristics of a narcissistic psychopath, a manipulator and a cult leader himself. People who were on his side such as Andrew Gold only reluctantly came to these conclusions. Those are all pretty difficult facts to explain on any other scenario than him being a seriously harmful individual.

  AI Generated Art - Impact on Artists

  unless you've been hibernating under a rock for the last couple of years, you're probably aware that ai is the new hotness.. chatgpt gets a lot of attention but equally amazing is how capable ai is at generating art.

  if you'd been ask to name anything that would be the last holdout for humans, creative arts such as writing, painting, and music would probably be some of the things at the top of the list.. yet those seem to be the things that ai can do best.. it's fascinating to use the tools, but one thing you realize is that they are just combining patterns and shapes, there isn't yet any real "intelligence", artificial or otherwise.. as an example, you can ask it to create a painting in the style or a particular artist, with a whole raft of things you want to include.

  it will do a great job on first glance, but can often give people more arms or fingers than is normal, and lamp-posts can grow to different heights, like trees.

  AI art is derivative. But human art is derivative too. No artist starts from scratch. They all copy and adapt and evolve.

  The malformed hands are really ugly, but they are already working on the problem and I hear it is fixed already on some models.

  That’s what we’ve got to remember, these are very early programme. The deficiencies in the current images will be vastly improved. The ability already, and the potential for further improvement is mind boggling.

  I suppose I sympathise with artists to some extent. But you can’t stop AI learning from existing art just as you can’t stop a human artist from learning from existing art. There is no practical or reasonable way you could constrain that.

  Personally I think it’s fantastic that we can all produce images we want with increasing ease.

  But I do worry what the whole thing means for society. I think we are looking at massive restructuring of society, work, the money system - everything. And I don’t think we have the political or public institutions ready to cope with the challenge.
