It wasn’t a “short cut” it was a deliberate decision to sell harmful drugs to make a profit. Why do you call that a short cut?

I just read the conclusions, thanks Earnest, they sound measured. There may be a case for the vaccines for the elderly and some vulnerable groups, but for most of the population it is beginning to look like they have done more harm than good, unfortunately. This is particularly disastrous, if true, considering the vaccines were required for some people to keep their jobs. If it turns out that they cause serious long term effects for people who were at little risk from the virus in the first place, will people ever trust authorities on health matters again?
Above all, I think we should learn from this that people should be given full information and allowed to make their own choices.

Would you still be angry with Lloyd Evans ?
by BettyHumpter inif instead of thailand, he had gone to a place where its legal and (supposedly) has some sort of oversight to prevent exploitation?
like nevada in the u.s or amsterdam in europe?
would the being unfaithful part still be a deal breaker as far as supporting his channel?

You could argue that comedians can make reference to JWs because they are generally well known. It’s my experience that most people in the general population will have come across JWs at some point in their lives, through family, school, work, neighbourhood or elsewhere.
JWs get over 20 million at the memorial each year. Compare that with groups considered world religions:
26 million Sikhs
15 million Jews
5 million Baha’is
4 million Jains
4 million Shinto adherents

I'm thinking that they make much more money if they save lives.
Have you read about the Vioxx case?
Because of the patent laws drug companies concentrate on making small changes to old drugs and sell them as new drugs. Sometimes this is as “harmless” as overstating the efficacy of drugs by commissioning many trials and only publishing the favourable ones. (Yes that’s legal and common practice) Other times it means hiding the side effects of drugs and dealing with the legal repercussions later, if and when the they become known.
The system is explicitly constituted to prioritise profit over human life and well being. Why should we be surprised at the outcome?

I know you’re joking, but the lizard explanation is an exotic explanation for something that is mundane and commonplace but no less deadly.
Drug companies want to make money even if that costs lives.
One notorious example is the decision to promote the drug Vioxx despite knowing that it causes heart attacks. The drug company did this even though they realised they would be fined because they reckoned the profit would exceed the fine. They were correct. Tens of thousands of people died as a result. No one went to jail for this.
The more money is involved the more incentive there is to misrepresent the data to increase profits. The new vaccines have been among the most profitable treatments in history.
The question is not whether drug companies would hide information and promote dangerous treatments to makes profits, because we already know that this is their business practice. The question that remains is simply the specific issue of whether they have done this in the case of the new vaccines.
What we need is a proper system to evaluate drugs independently of the companies that stand to benefit from selling them.
Of course the drug companies and the media they own and the politicians they lobby would prefer that we argue about lizards instead.

There are over 20 million JW adherents worldwide. That puts them in a similar range as the number of Jews worldwide. I don’t agree with the idea that JWs are totally insignificant in terms of numbers or cultural impact. Most people have heard of JWs and know at least a little bit about them. Most people have a friend, relative, colleague or acquaintance who is a JW at one time or another. JWs are fairly evenly spread compared with other religious groups, and in many countries most people have a KH in their local community. They have impacted the laws and rights granted in many countries too. They are far more widespread than Scientologists and Mormons. They have a similar spread as Seventh-day Adventists but are more distinctive and probably better known because of their preaching and distinctive beliefs and practices.

Are YOU saved?
by JW Answers insadly today, many churches and religious organisations teach their followers that they are saved based on something the bible does not record.
many people are following a lie, and are heading to a lost eternity and do not know it.. my question here is... are you saved?
it's vitally important to know!.

I find these blog style in-your-face, not-open-to-dialogue style posts from a fellow Scot embarrassing and, despite my best efforts to just ignore them, somewhat irritating.
What sort of mindset, anyway, makes it their mission, without any apparent connection, past or present, with JWs, to go out their way to decry and refute the JW worldview in particular? They often represent groups that are most likely to hold hellfire doctrines to be true - the irrational and, some would argue, God-defaming doctrine that was the impetus for Charles Taze Russell to strike out on a different course in the first place.

There is zero evidence that the Divine name was in the NT .
There’s the large number textual variants in the New Testament where kyrios (Lord) stands for the divine name; copies of the LXX that show the divine name was used in biblical texts at the time the New Testament was composed; testimony from Roman authors that ordinary Jews used the divine name in the form Yaho in the time of Jesus and the early Christians; the treatment of the divine name in the Syriac Diatessaron; references to the divine name in the New Testament text itself such as Revelation 3:12 and 14:1; and the presence of the divine name in the form Yaho in early onomastica used by Christians that explain the derivation of names in the Bible. These are all pieces of evidence for the divine name in the early New Testament. Plus the Bible scholars who have supported the idea that the divine name was in the original New Testament, including: George Howard, Lloyd Gaston, David Trobisch, John McRay, Frank Shaw and Luise Schottroff.
