To state the bleeding obvious, of course: hardly anyone lives in the flyover states where Trump won, and Clinton got nearly 3 million more votes than Trump overall.
I just noticed that Trump won Utah by a significant margin. So much for the Mormons voting against Trump on principle...

Sad to watch that video. I know old timers who converted in this period. They really believed they were swapping a "worldly" way of life for something better. They were sold false promises. There were some gains involved in adopting a JW lifestyle for sure, but they were incidental, and in no way equal to the prize offered.
great visualization of the voting difference from the election!.

back in the 60's and 70's, when i was a jw, i held a number of ministerial posts.
this meant that i was privy to many congregation issues that involved disfellowshipping or restrictions.
probation was the term that we used then for restrictions.. if a person appeared before a jc and was found to be guilty and placed on restrictions, then the person could be automatically disfellowshipped if they committed the offence again whilst still on restrictions.. i know this for this reason: one lady from our congregation who had engaged in fornication some years earlier had been placed on probation.
Sorry I was only joking. There's no harm posting the same topics I don't think.

snugglebunny you are a repeat offender with the same topic twice in a row. I hereby put you on automatic forum restrictions. ;-)
some people like to believe in something others believe in nothing; so in what location did the substance that expanded into the time/space universe exist before the big bang?
where did the energy that caused the big band come from?
how did the substance that became the big bang change from being inert and sterile and come to life to having the properties and drive that it does?
It why is there a universe in the first place? Or anything at all for that matter?

Saying there is no God isn't an answer either. Because even if you say there is no God, you still have the problem of why there is something rather than nothing. Why does anything exist at all? The very fact of existence is mysterious. Because if there is no greater intelligence, or being outside of being, then why should anything ever arise naturally from nothing? Or why has something always been? Excluding God from the picture doesn't solve that central problem or mystery.
johannes wrobel, the founder of the watchtower history archives in germany, responsible for the stand firm-video and the stand-firm-exhibitions resigned in november 2008 and left the german branch office.
he was also the responsible person for many of the wt sponsored websites on jw in the 'third reich'!.
there are no further details known yet but this could be big news!.
The autobiography with details about Knorr and Jaracz seem to be gone. Does anyone have a copy of it?
i am currently reading the new history of the holocaust by british historian laurence rees and it reminded me of a comment in the awake!
magazine i read years ago and trusted as factual.
i quote both passages without comment.
Buchenwald was established in 1937 and stories about conditions in the camp soon appeared in the British press. It was sometimes referred to as "dreaded Buchenwald", the "great concentration camp", "grim concentration camp", and "the worst camp".
Here is a very small sample of stories about the Buchenwald concentration camp that the Awake! claims was "unknown" to most non-Golden Age and Consolation readers before 1945.
"Germany's Grim Forest Prison for Jews", Portsmouth Evening News, 10th August 1938.
"Plight of Jews", Lincolnshire Echo, 10th August 1938.
"Worst Camp", Yorkshire Evening Post, 2nd of December 1938.
"Beaten to Death", Daily Record, 23rd January 1939.
"Escaped Jew Saw Death Beatings", Dundee Courier, 23rd January 1939.
"Nazi Concentration Camp Horrors - Savage Ill Treatment of Prisoners", Birmingham Daily Post, 31st October 1939.
"Concentration Camp Revelations - Hitler's Order Regarding Punishment of Jews", The Scotsman, 31st October 1939.
"Envoys Reveal Horrors of Nazi Lash", Daily Mirror, 31st October 1939.
There were hundreds of such articles about Buchenwald just in the British press alone before 1945.
