richard dawkins closes down his free-thinking/free-thought site (www.richarddawkins.net) for 30 days to reconfigure it 'because too many morons were contributing drivel' (he doesn't put it quite like that!

) he is then surprised because those self-same contributors call him everything under the sun (i won't repeat the names flung at him on our ultra -refined boards).

he now wants the site more or less 'peer-reviewed' (by analogy with papers to learned/scientific journals having to be vetted by vips).

The question is of time scale. They would need some core of n*20yr generations to die off (and STFU about how things used to be) before they can roll out new convergences of some scripture they found or construed and their own earthly divinity, that they have just received new light upon, from themselves.

Primary claim: A bunker's worth of coteries, courtiers, fawners and sychophants will stick by the GB beyond this century.

Secondary claim: Watch the number of GB go down in scale with the JW population.

First order term of my prediction: field strength of Stockholm cocktail of binding energy that keeps non-stupid people* bound to a cult _VS_ field strength of the lure of forbidden mouse clicks.

Turnover point in graph: Something on the order of enforced multi-layer multi-redundant social networks that triangulate and checkmate every last detail of a person's life would be minimum conditions to break through the last binding energy of the inner layer of the Outer Party. (Philosophically I am utterly against such an enforcement.)

I invite my own failed prediction. May the odds be ever in favor of yours.

just had the circuit assembly this weekend here:.

surprisingly not much fuss over the new bible considering that this was the first meeting for most here to use it (the annual meeting was "invite only" for a select few here, and there was no thursday meeting because of this assembly) and having a new bible was only referred to fairly briefly in a comment about how "wonderful" it is (and in the closing prayer).

i think i was the only one there with an old maroon nwt - i got a confused look from one of the elders - haha!

IF he held up a can of SPAM, it is a deliberate, premeditated, knowing insult, flaunting the platform's power to dispense low-grade recycled crap as spiritual food, and a direct attack on individual human dignity in the guise of trench humor. He is not in the trenches with anyone. And SPAM better not be a metaphor, and certainly is not an illustration, and cannot be a composite sign, and isn't doing anything good invisibly, and is not proper food at any time, and so what was the speaker's purpose in slapping the audience across the face with >>such a product + in such a context<<<? TWS cannot claim martyrship. These buildings once gentrified will stand testament to what TWS is actually about, sales. And outdoor roof space is the opposition of windowless KHS.

It's a slow motion train wreck of a train loaded with people, a very long train, and they will all crash, traincar by traincar, in slow motion, and they will all see the traincar ahead of them crash, and they will all have time to get out of their own traincar if they wanted to, but they will not, and their traincar will crash, and they will be no more, and the train will keep coming, and crashing, and there's not much any one person can do about it. This is a function of the human species. A certain percentage of the human species will have the bad luck to get born in, get stuck in a mental, emotional, spiritual ditch at the wrong time, make eye contact, swallow the hook of fake smiles, ignore the red flags from doorstep to podium to swimming pool. I would candidly say that x% of humanity is just plain stupid, and they naturally fall into this potential well of JW promises. But that's not it. I would absolutely say that x% of humanity are more dependent on their social lives and connections than they are on the freedom to think and speak and act as they would. This slow motion train wreck will continue before your eyes for at least another century if not more. There is simply not enough instant communication between n^n humans to avert this social dependency. Millions of newborns into this cult will die in this cult of old age and natural causes.

During its cycle to pull in dollars from its rank and file and push those dollars to real estate and stock market investments and pedophile lawsuits, it also causes many more dollars to be burned up in massive overheads, inefficiencies, opportunity costs like field service, gasoline, meals, meeting nights, weekend mornings, driving to conventions, hotel costs, etc, compounded by attaining on average little competitive earning power. A simpler solution would be to just tithe at 10% and give up mandatory field service, mandatory meetings, mandatory conventions.

So if there were 160,000 JWs in positions of high authority to lord it over the eight million, that would meet the disparity of power in this fictional book. 8 JWs in positions (think of 8 O'Briens characters ) of lording it over 8 million puts the percentage at (well, one in a million, or) 0.0001%
