Jehover's Witnesses get a taste of karma....
by Elsewhere injws and the wts have policies in place for the sole purpose of discriminateing against and harass people who do not believe the same things they believe.
they hunt down anyone who exercises their freedoms or speech and religion so that they can destroy the person's family... now they are getting a small taste of what they do to other people... how do they respond?
they cry "foul".. .

bad karma has a way of coming arouond....I cannot think of a more deserving group....
So, if I understand correctly, bad things happen to people and/or groups because they kind of brought it on themselves by doing bad things to others. In that case, I'm wondering whether the people who've been badly treated by the Watchtower brought it on themselves? Or are they are exceptions to this principle of kharma? The trouble with kharma is that it's a way to explain everything and ends up explaining nothing.

WTS Official Spin on monthly Awake: 'More emphasis on the Bible!'
by Neo inthe march 2005 kingdom ministry brings up a full article about the awake only being published once a month, starting january 2006. .
but the fun thing is the roundabout way this change is announced.
knowing that the news would be a bitter pill to swallow (there should be a 'speeding up' of the preaching work, not a downsizing), the watchtower only announces the move to monthly publishing by the end of the article.

"Emphasizing" the Bible is going to be a no-win move in the age of the internet, besides the fact that the Bible is leaving popular Western culture.
I find it interesting that in all that the KM says about the once-a-month only Awake!, there appears to be no overt reference to how deep into the time of the end we are (I hope the rough translation was correct about this!). Instead, there are statements about more 'Biblical emphasis' and about 'the kingdom'. So, it seems even the good old KM has become more moderate in its assertions about the late stage into the last days. I'd like to know, given that I haven't actually read the content of the March KM, whether my assumption is correct about no mention of how near we are to the end.

We make fun of the Awake, but as a religious publication it's pretty benign. And not much more biased than your evening news.
Good observation. Equally, have you noticed how dumbed down the JW literature has become over the years? The Awake! articles, expecially. An interesting comparison could be made between the content of the Awake in 1965 and 2005.
Present day articles seem cobbled together from various sources, with a brief and obligatory "Let's thank the Creator" line or two tacked on at the end. And those ridiculous catch-your-attention question titles on the cover? Irritating to the extreme. And, really, in recent years, they've been going overboard with cute pictures of children and animals. I much preferred it when the magazine was gutsier and harder-hitting in content.
The other day, I glanced through a 7th-Day Adventist magazine (Signs of the Times). I predict that this is the direction in which the Awake! is headed. Innocuous articles extolling the virtues of good clean living, and praising the wisdom of the Bible. Safe, bland and ultimately interchangeable in content.
The trouble with end-times religions is they grow old and then have to face the fact that the members are kind of getting bored waiting for the end. We all know what happens when people start fiddling...

Only Jehovah's Witnesses
by Yvonne A ini'm just new to this internet stuff and am studying with the jehovah's witnesses at present.please don't take my lack of knowledge as cheek.
i just want to know if it's meant to be only jehovah's witnesses using this site.
i fully intend to become baptised but was wondering if there's any security to prevent people who shouldn't be using the site and are maybe abusing it from doing so.

hey guys write nicely - set an example. Sometimes ideas do take time and clear thinking to register. I can't see how derogatory labels are helpful in this instance.

WitnessDefence:
Just a respectful word of caution: I notice that you have scanned a 1979 Watchtower magazine article . You really need to check that this article is still supported by the Watchtower because more than 25 years have elapsed since it was published. The point you wish to "prove" by quoting from it may well have been superseded by another one.

SORRY
by Yvonne A ini apologise for upsetting most of you by logging onto this site.
i stumbled onto it by accident and stupidly never noticed that it said discussion forum, everyone welcome.
i just thought it was a site where witnesses discussed subjects, and did not expect such a negative response to my naivety.

I admire your respectfulness and honesty. Take care whether you come back here or not! I appreciate your feedback: The forum is not just about agreeing with others!

High rates of depression in Org.
by chuckyy ini noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).
after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.
-
steve2
So, many are already depressed BEFORE they jump in the pool of baptism.
To say nothing of the mental health problems they bring with them into the organization, finding that the claimed solutions don't help them at all, and often make their situation worse.

Would Michael Jackson be in all this legal trouble if he stayed a JW?
by booker-t inas you posters know my mom has been a "devout" jw for over 40 years and just won't bend when it comes to the faults of the wts.
i have talked until i was blue in the face for over 10 years since da'd myself in 1993 but just can't crack my mom.
well she made another ridiculous comment to me the other day in her attempts to get me "reinstated" back as a jw.

Purple Rain (the old Prince)
Well, at least Prince appears to have got his sexual weirdness out of his system before joining the witnesses (OR has he?). Prince certainly qualifies as an obedient son, following his mother's last wish that he become a witness. I can't imagine Prince complaining to the media about what a rotten life he's had as MJ has done for years . And not a chimpanzee or oxygen tent in sight.

What a genuine shame and disappointment that your most potent message to Yvonne was one of negativity and judgement. It is ironic that this forum permits you to air your concerns, whereas many people on this forum were never allowed a legitimate forum in the Watchtower Society to air their concerns. Worst of all, how dare you lazily assume you know why people have left!
