What's Your Opinion Of Cops Making Roadblocks Just 2 See If Someone's Drunk

This action by police is nothing less than the same kind of thinking that is the substance of a " police state." It is not the right of law enforcement to randomly check to see if one has had, in their opinion, " too much to drink." I know for a fact that some people can be "drunk" and drive better than most people who have had nothing to drink.

If one wants to use the argument that this action saves lives then why don't we, as a nation, have laws governing the use of private swimming pools to the extent that we should, mandatorily, have government certified life guards posted at all private pools. After all, many more people die from drowning than being killed by a drunk driver.

my boomer generation was reared in front of a tee-vee set.

our view of life on planet earth (not to mention elsewhere) is framed inside a rectangle of voyeurism.

movies consisted of a larger rectangle with better sound and cushier seats.

Rick and Ilsa loved each other; to me that was obvious. Rick gave up Ilsa so she could stay alive and fulfill her own destiny. This was a movie about sacrifice, something that today's generation seems to not understand.

Yes, voyeurs indeed are so many of the generation between 15 and 35 years of age . . .or even older.

Shut off the kid's TV and have them pick up litter . . .a little " hands on " may work wonders.

"Ego" da man ?

it occurred to me that one's ego must play a rather large part in deciding, as an adult, whether or not to become a jehovah's witness.. after all, after joining, one then has a purpose in life, a purpose and calling that could not come from any higher source.

to finally understand the bible ( so few people - even religious leaders don't understand it completely like i will someday .

.and now i will be one of just a handful of people on earth to truly know the word of god !

Yes, you believed you were serving God, but at what cost? Did not your ego take center stage in this quest to bring others into your belief system ? Please reread my post and you will understand that I am not talking about status within the JW dynamic. I refer rather to a JW's " driving force" that must come from his/her ideas about themslves and their "place" in the world. How very bold of JW's to believe they understand the religious mysteries of life and then, without libelity, take it upon themselves to interfer into people's lives !

It seems to me that the WTS is built on and upheld by nothing less than the wrong kind of pride.

To finally understand the Bible ( so few people - even religious leaders don't understand it completely like I will someday . . . .and now I will be one of just a handful of people on Earth to truly know the Word of God ! ) My "Self ", my " Id " my " Soul " finally is fueled by the Truth spinging forth from the "Most High", the "Divine Ones", that ever so special small group of men in New York to whom GOD speaks the Truths of the Universe.

My discovery of the new me has lifted me up so I may joyfully carry the load of "Life - Change" that is surely to come to my own loved ones, for there are no boundaries containing my present loves that will hinder my quest, for I have found my "True Love" and it is Me.

why are departing jw's bitter?

i say the bitterness is directly proportional to the amount of emotional committment we made to their teachings.

if we accepted them wholeheartedly, the bitterness was immense as we discovered the lies and coverups, while getting the blame on the missed date predictions, and seeing the ever-increasing legalistic structure of the society, not to even mention the shunning by loved ones who still remain.

I live on Florida's gulf coast and we have some of the world's most beautiful beaches, " sugar sand " as it is often called. People come here from Texas and Louisiana ( to name two place with beaches ) in order to get away from their highly polluted coasts . . .coasts where the sand and water is dark brown from oil; water where there are " dead zones, " where Nothing lives.

I say keep the oil rigs away from this area. And I don't care if I have to pat $6.00/$ 7.00 a gallon for gas, it's worth every penny to save what we have left of "Real life."

It seems to me that some of our political representatives have lost track of life's priorities.
