DFed, more positive or negative?
by Sheepish injust musing.... from the vantage point of being "out", it seems to me that being dfed would be really, really painful, but ultimately a good thing.
(i was shunned by my family when i finally left though, so i know a little of what a dfed person goes through, although i didn't put myself through going back to meetings and being shunned) .
i was publicly reproved, and was not allowed to answer in meetings, but i was not shunned.

DF IS DISCIPLINE?? I DON'T AGREE. DF IS PUNISHMENT BECAUSE IT IS LIKE SOLITARY CONFINEMENT AWAY FROM THOSE YOU'VE BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS AND WERE TAUGHT THAT THESE ARE YOUR TRUE FRIENDS AND THOSE ON THE OUTSIDE ARE YOUR ENEMIES. VERY MENTALLY ABUSIVE.
AND THEY HAVE YOU JUMP THROUGH OODLES OF HOOPS TO COME BACK. AND THEN YOU HAVE TO MEASURE UP TO THEIR STANDARDS WHICH IN SOME HALLS ARE EXTREMELY HARSH.
I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE. I TRIED. IT WAS HELL. I FINALLY GAVE UP AND SAID F*** IT ALL - I'M SICK OF THEIR GAMES. IF WHAT THEY SAY IS TRUE ABOUT ARMAGGEDON THEN I'LL DIE, BUT ATLEAST I'M NOT FIGHTING AN UPHILL BATTLE. JUST GOT TIRED OF IT AND NO ONE UNDERSTANDS AS THEY ARE THESE PROGRAMMED ZOMBIES.

Chewing Gum at KH

Hi to all!
Yep. GUM WAS A BIG NO NO AT OUR HALL. AND ASSEMBLIES. People basically did what they wanted. Just chewed sparingly and kept their mouth shut.
This organization controls EVERY aspect of a person's life. Is their any area of a person's life that they don't have something to say about??
At our Hall, a brother was assigned to FOLLOW the kids when they went to get a drink of water or to the bathroom and if they were naughty he would take them to their parents. We told him to f*** off - we'll take care of our own kids.

Sorry, but I have to say another thing.
The Society has become like governments. Spend beyond their means. We live in a very small house and I'd love to have an addition put on my kitchen for more room for the table and chairs. BUT, we can't afford it. What about them? If they don't have the donations they need for their projects, etc. then suspend them until you do. Just like all of us have to do. HAD TO VENT A LITTLE. Thanks to all of you for your help. I didn't think I dreamed this one. So what does that tell you? This "donation" thing has become very important in your OBEY, OBEY, OBEY Jehovah. One former brother I just talked to said that at the Hall they are on this topic heavily as they have only received 1/2 of their usual donations and their Hall expenses have not been met for the past 3 months. The KH is in a lower income area where the bros. and sis. are just trying to make their own bills.
Yes. That would have been a much better test - turn a piece of coal into 500 tons. So with this new emphasis on giving tying in w/your obeying Jehovah is another way of control and trying to make people feel unfaithful if they don't do it. This goes against their early teaching. Or w/new light Jehovah wants them to twist peoples' arms???? Something for JW to think about which it seems more and more are doing.

Elders' School
by Cellist ini was reading sir82's thread on the recent elders' school and he mentioned them learning how to use the index in the new od book.
does anyone remember the elders' school in 1986 or 87 (i think) where the whole two days was spent learning how to use the new "watchtower publications index 1930 - 1985".
at that time i had the same reaction as sir82 just had .... duh!

When I was in counseling, it was brought to my attention that I was being harder on myself than God would be. You know it always bothered me that there was so much bloodshed - gruesome stuff. I never could figure out either why Moses was punished so severely even though for so many years he faithfully obeyed. Look at King David. He got off after murdering a man. Though Jesus came through his lineage. I don't know - doesn't seem just to me. Juni
