Why don't you call the local KH,apologize and ask if those two nice ladies could come back for a little chat?

for the first time in 4 or 5 years i got a visit by the jws this morning.
i wasnt prepared at all and so handled it not so well.
bear in mind the leaflet on display just made me feel physically ill.. the woman asked if i was interested in finding out god's purpose for the future.

i've never posted anything on the net before.
just want to see if it works.
i left the wts in '73 - just couldn't wait those extra two years.
Welcome Wombat!
I love your sense of humour, and all those friendly jw's are just using you as a return visit and easy service time. Why don't you take advantage of it to ask them some real thought-provoking questions?

How about denial.
in our local sunday paper, there's a regular feature on how married couples met.
i've been touched by some of the stories.
i'm curious as to how you met your spouse.
My wife and I met at a jw wedding.
three months ago an elder came to our house to try to answer some of my questions.none were answered to my satisfaction and it was obvious some seemed difficult to him so he said he would do some more research and get back to me.well, last night at the meeting he told my wife that he and another elder would like to come over next week to continue our original conversation.. my wife told them that i didn't really want to be a jw anymore and they said they weren't giving up on me just yet.they also said they like me as a person and i really don't think they want to df me anytime soon as this would be too traumatic to my wife and might push her out of the religion for good.. my plan is to start with the first question and stick to it until it is answered to my satisfaction which i doubt it can be.it is the following:.
where does the bible say that god has an "organization" on earth and uses a governing body to direct it?.
i have some research ready to use but i'd like to ask you if you have any comments or information you'd like to share that i can use in some way.i appreciate all your help on this one and i'll keep you posted on how it goes next week.thank you very much.. goldminer
Thanks for your comments and replies so far;some very interesting material in there.
I am expecting them to use some WT material to overwhelm me but I want to keep things simple, which is why my question starts with "where does the bible say...".Also I've tied in the part about a governing body directing this organization which requires biblical proof that a governing body exists.I plan on using Jesus' own words to show where he directed his followers to go.
"Come to me..."-MT 11:28
"whom shall we go away to?You have sayings of everlasting life"-JN 6:68
"I am the way and the truth and the life..."-JN 14:6
I have to keep the burden of proof on them and always ask for scriptures.A discussion tying in the governing body would most likely lead to a discussion on the FDS (MT 24:45-47) which is a very weak proof that that scripture is a literal prophecy pointing to a religious group in the 1870's.
It was tough enough last time with one elder who was in WT denial and would not reason on real facts,I don't expect it to be any easier this time.If it was up to me I would never have these discussions with elders but my wife really believes they can answer my questions so I have to give it a shot and do the best I can.Like I said,it's quite unlikely they'll want to df because of the emotional damage that would do to my wife although I'd like them to bring it up instead of leading me down a garden path with their WT reasoning.

first time posting here for me.
i am not disfellowshipped but i have been in the past.
i was reinstated probably 4-5 years ago, and i think i've been to the kingdom hall once since then.
Welcome to the board. I enjoyed your story so far, interesting and hilarious.

once, discussing the recently passed circuit assembly.
he had interviewed a young pioneer that was able to pioneer without a car.
she "arranged her schedule" (translation: bummed rides well in advance) to make sure she had a way to and from the hall.
I like that story about those poor dubs walking through that dangerous jungle to get to the kh.That was just a walk in the park compared to what they had to go through to get to the district assembly.I don't remember all the trials and tribulations they had to go through but it was practically unreal;I always wondered how they managed to keep their suits and dresses clean.

did god lie to adam?
the watchtower, and in fairness all other christian groups, claim that satan told the first lie when he told eve, "you positively will not die".
but was it a lie?
This is how I always understood it:
2Peter 3:8 says"...one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day".So when God told Adam he would die on that day, possibly he meant within a thousand years and not within that 24 hour period. Also Adam would have been as good as dead in a spiritual sense in God's eyes.Genesis 5:5 says Adam lived for 930 years so he died within that 1000 year "day".

i've been wondering what people think about this.
as soon as i turned 18 and had an income (it was disability but income just the same) my parents began to charge me room and board.
is this common practice?
