  How many ex jw's have become born again?

  i have been in touch today with an old school friend, after around 20 years.

  his mom used to be a jw, but became a christian years before he was born, i always remember him as having a faith, but it was something that during his teen years he put to one side.. anyway this brings me around to today.

  we got in touch recently through facebook, turns out he only lives 5 minutes away so i went around today to see him.. we had a great conversation, catching up.

  Let me explain what I think Hebrews 8:13 means and why it's important here.

  It says the the old covenant is "ready to vanish away". Something that is ready to, has not yet.

  When the disciples ask Jesus ( Matthew 24:3) when the "close of the age" would be and what would be the sign, they were in the Old Covenant age.

  The New Covenant could not start until the Old Covenant was finished.

  At the time Jesus was talking, the old conenant was not done yet. Hebrews 8:13

  The New Covenant started and the Old Covenant was done when the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD.

  The "Coming of Christ", the coming of the "Kingdom" happened in 70 AD and some of those Jesus was talking to and about in the Olivet Discourse were still alive in 70 AD.

  everytime i talk to my mom about the religion i once was a part of, she always throws scriptures at me.

  even though i provided her and my 'anointed' step dad with an 85 page letter of research on this religion, provided quotes of all failed prophecies, and all the bs the society feeds them, personal emails from the un and letters from the society in their stupid defence....they just took it as apostate material.

  my step dad even admitted he didn't read the whole thing, but he got the 'just' of my point.

  Revelation 21 and 22 to show that the Throne of God is coming down to a new earth. The new heaven and the new earth are one in the same.

  In Revelation 21 the holy city comes down to the new earth. The thrones of God and Christ are part of that city. The river of the water of life flows from those thrones. 22 God and Christ shall reign, from their thrones in the new city, for ever and ever.

  So, there is no difference between the new heaven and the new earth. Living on the new earth IS living with God.

  The WTS idea of "144000 in heaven and the rest on earth" has no biblical basis.

  All who are saved will be with God and Christ.

  Well, Revelation 12:7 says that Michael fought against Satan.

  Revelation 12:9 says that Satan was cast out but it does not say by whom.

  What do you believe about Hell?

  to go along with my trinity thread, i don't believe in hellfire, probably because of my jw upbringing (and common sense).

  i have no problem with the idea of an immortal soul or a heavenly hope but the idea of people being tortured forever seems just silly.

  so, what is your view of hell?.

  Revelation 20:10-15 talks about the lake of fire where Satan will be "tormented day and night for ever and ever".

  It's not clear whether or not condemned man will be there. This is do to the word "were" near the end of verse 10. And the concept that man is consumed by that fire. Satan is clearly not consumed.

  So, according to the bible hell does exist, at least for Satan.

  i believe in god but no longer accept the wt's views.

  i still find the idea of the trinity hard to accept, however, probably because of my jw upbringing.

  a coworker's child died and i attended the church memorial.

  "There are several things said by Christ that makes it hard to believe in a trinity. He said only the Father knows the date of his comming, that his father was greator than him,"

  Greater than him at that time. Hebrews 2:9"..for a little while was made lower than...."

  Now his name is "above every name...EVERY knee should bow, in heaven and on earth..." Philippians 2:9

  BTW [other] is not part of that verse. Just have a look at your interlinear.

  The name Jesus is above all names in heaven and on earth. Period!
