  According to Brooklyn Heights Blog, the Brooklyn Eagle reported yesterday that the Jehovah's Witnesses are preparing to sell the 80,000-square-foot Columbia Heights building known as the Standish Arms Hotel. For the last two decades, the Watchtower group has used the limestone and brick structure to house its flock. The decision is reportedly part of a larger reorganization of the property-rich organization's holdings. All we know is these will be some expensive apartments when a developer's done with them. How do neighbors feel about the impending change in ownership?

  so.... mom calls me saturday to see if my 12 year old son wants to go to the memorial.

  she left voicemail, so i managed to ignore the call until monday was safely past.

  then, when i talk to her, she mentioned how many people were there, how nice it was, the nice elders in her kh.

  I'm clueless about the tunnels.

  There are connecting tunnels to several buildings in bethel. You can go to several buildings without ever going outside. It's pretty cool actually, they go under the streets and sidewalks.I was all over that place years ago.

  I just wonder why selling a hotel is placed under "Scandals" ?

  What's wrong with posting it under Watchtower society - scandals and coverups? These type of things usually are a big secret to most of the dubs.

  Where would be better? Why?

  Today's Text is Scriptural Blasphemy

  hey gang, this morning as i was making some coffee i saw the "text book" lying there and decided i'd read todays text as i never do, just to see what it had to say.. it was taken from john 15:12 which says..... " this is my commandment, that you love one another just as i have loved you".. anyways, it goes on to say what jesus told his diciples who asked him which was the greatest of all the commandments and jesus answered them that "you must love god with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself".

  then it went on to ask if this law was also important to christians today and the comment was.... ( and heres the kicker) "absolutely, the law of christ involves a heartfelt love of god and includes a new command.....christians are to have a self sacrificing love for one another".. so rather than say christians are to love your fellowman, they twist the scripture and say christians are to love other christians.......and we all know by that statement they mean other jehovah's witnesses since they hold no regard for christians of this world.

  yes, once again they play mind tricks on the publishers and tell them to love each other...rather than your fellowman and people of this world in general as was the case in the illustration jesus himself gave with the good samaritan.. it's no wonder jehovah's witnesses are despised by many in this world with their self rightous attitudes and beliefs regarding their fellowman that is induced in them by a few old men from brooklyn new york.. i hope your reading this wtbts spies, i really do.

  What I remember about JW helping others is : John 12:8 For you have the poor always with you, but me you will not have always.

  I remember this scripture used as reason to not worry about needy people.

  Thanks for the review, another article.

  Women who are counted worthy of God's approval will share with men the same reward of everlasting life--many even enjoying life in heaven, where "there is neither male nor female."

  There is a couple in my area (U.S.PA) where the wife is annointed and the husband is not, Jean H.

  Thinking about the craziness of that hurts my head.

  "do this in remembrance of me"...... ...those words jesus utters,..according to the wt,...is specifically for "the annointed",...right?.

  if jesus at the last supper is speaking directly to "the annointed class",...that they should parttake and "do this in remembrance",...then why do the r & f even go to the memorial?.

  looking at it through jw eyes,...jesus didn't invite members of "great crowd" to the last supper,...right?

  No, they wouldn't not according to WT standards.

  This would then mean that you are observing an apostate or non-witnesses partake of the emblems.

  Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!

  My reply to my mom's invitation to the memorial was "I'm not one of the 144,000".

  Seems to have worked she stopped bugging me about it.

  we all know it's not an issue if people say the lord's prayer or not, but except for the fact that jw's make it an issue.

  to them it's kinda like the boogie man and to say it makes you part of christendom, ripe for destruction.. this thread is in response to another thread.i finally took some time to look into information to make a reply.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/130602/2.ashx.

  I never once said that prayers other than the Lord's model are better and no where did I suggest that it should never be used. If you felt that I was suggesting this then why didn't you ask instead of blatently assuming?

  If all you can and/or want to do is recite that model prayer over and over again then what kind of relationship do you really have with the god you claim to believe in/worship. If everytime you saw your best friend, you had the exact same conversation each time what would that say about your relationship? It would be a gialnt flashing EMPTY sign as in nothing there, no foundation, no substance.

  You know Brooklyn could use your skills, that's pretty good.

  My issue is with only using the model, with only saying those same words over and over again.

  Did you read the subject of this thread?

  I don't think anyone who posted , even suggested that one should only be using the "model" prayer in praying.

  Luke 11:2 - He said to them "when you pray say" Father hallowed be your name................
