  this one is for the history/myth experts out there.

  i've already seen a lot of common legends in greek/mesopotamian/hebrew mythology (the flood, the tree of life, ...) especially after reading the gilgamesh epos.

  when i was little i always ment the sign on farmacies (the rod of ascleipos) to be the brass snake moses made to save the israelites from the snakes-bites (wich was later an idol the israelites worshipped).

  the Shaddai gods - like in "El-Shaddai"? "El-Shaddai" like god almighty of the bible? "shad" like "breast"?
  
  has anyone here read the popol vuh? there's a lot about a snake, creation, underworld, playing football and stuff like that too...

  representing the healing god Ningishita
  ningishita? who's that? that the snake could be asherah (ashtoreth/ishtar) is a interesting thought... ishtar is sometimes shown as a "tree of life".
  
  but what also comes to mind is the mythology of precolumbian american cultures - think about quetzalcoatl, the aztecs feathered snake (mayan equivalent is "gucumatz"), wich plays a big role in the creation story.
  
  any connections there?

  about 8 months ago i saw something like that, but they tried it on worms - they lived 4 times longer than normally.
  
  they'll have to change song 222 "keep your eyes on the prize": only 280 are our years, and 320 at best...

  in a recent thread someone said that bagpuss was a good name but didn't know what it meant.. bagpuss was a character from a childrens programme in the 1970s and is becoming popular again now.

  i chose this name as like bagpuss i am soft,cuddlyand loyal, but will get the claws out when needed.. why did you choose your 'alias' and what does it tell me about you?

  many of the 'apostates' here believe in the ransom of jesus - and the command to partake of the 'communion' of the lords evening meal, right?

  i have come to accept that that 'memorial' is simply a recognition of jesus' sacrifice.

  that action - if counted - would actually make some jws think... ozzie seems to only move or talk, when it's a matter of life and death. if everyone would be like that, no info on jws would be available on the net. why would i make a board for xjws? why a site on watchtower doctrine? WHY?

  dead bodies don't have life. the creation story is about a dead body that get's "ruach", wich makes him breathe and live. then again, when ruach is the power behind the blow, nephesh (the soul) can be the breath, it actually can be anything between creature and life.
  
  i'm not sure if plants should be considered in this context. there's just too much of a difference between flora and fauna.

  one other connection of pneuma/spiritus as wind is the story about pentecost.

  i'm not sure if translation of "ruach" with "spirit" is correct (although possible). ruach is the power behind breath, wind or thunder. for example to "be out of breath (ruach)", like sheba was when seeing solomons wealth.
