This terrible shooting happened about 15 miles from my neighborhood. Unfortunately, this deranged man had no history of mental illness to stop him from buying a gun/guns.
As much as I'm pro 2nd Amendment, I'd still like to see a three day waiting period on the purchase of any concealed weapon. Maybe a Dr. record or something might surface that shows said person to be "off"!
Even so, nothing can stop a person who is set upon killing or hurting people who he/she perceives is against them.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families involved.

When were people of color 1st accepted in the Borg?
by kzjw init is my understanding that at one point, witnesses were taught that after armeggedon black people would be turned white, since they were inferior.

I was in the Army from 1966 to 1968 and stationed in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. At that time and several years before, I was already being brainwashed by my newly converted mother about the so-called TRUF! I started attending the Rosemont Cong. in Alexandria, Virginia while in the Army and was surprised to see that no blacks could attend there (they had their own place to meet). In my home area of Pittsburgh, PA, the KH's were mostly integrated.
I learned that Virginia was still governed by segregation laws. A few years later in the early 1970's, it was on the national news that the first "registered" and "lawful" interracial marriage was allowed in Virginia since the antiquated segregation law was overturned. It just so happened that that first interracial marriage was to two JW's. I don't remember which part of Virginia that was in though!

How many here actually still believe that there is a God??
by annalice inafter being gone from the jw's for many years now , and having done extensive research on the history of god and the belief in him , i can't seem to find any logical way to have a belief in an invisble being up there ruling over us.
how many here still believe?
how many don't?.

Without a doubt.....I believe in, and that there is a God. The Watchtower Society has a lot to answer to Him for those who used to believe in Him but no longer do because of their (WTBS) twisted brainwashing concept of what He is and putting themselves (FDS) higher than His son.

When Did You First Get Exposed To "Apostate" Info? How Did It Affect You?
by minimus inas a kid, i used to read all the watchtowers of the 40s and 50s to see how the present day information developed from its original "thought".
i was exposed to many eye opening statements but i swept them under the carpet (although it stayed in the recesses of my brain) until the time was right.. so for me, it was a gradual thing.. how were you affected by your first encounters with "apostate" material?

15 to 20 years ago when I used to take my wife and daughter to the library, I would browse the religion section and look for anything about JW's to see what was being said. At that time, I had some doubts and was many times unhappy with the hypocrisy and lack of love at the KH.
A month after my wife died in 1996, I bought my first computer and after finding soooooooo much about JW's, I really got pissed. Then I ordered COC and In Search of Christian Freedom. I stumbled on to JWD about 2003 or 2004. The rest is history and now I'm free and happy.
