How about Duane (spelling) Van Buren from the Pittsburgh, Pa area. I met him about 1979 or 1980. A short while after......he went to Brooklyn Bethel He was a nice person and I wonder what he is doing these days. He should be about 50 or so now. HappyDad

Twelve years ago when I first got online......AOL...........I met a JW girl from the high desert country of Oregon. Her name was Cindy and from her picture.....I saw the most beautiful bedroom eyes I've ever seen in my life. She really was a knockout and we spent a lot of time on the phone. My long distance bills were outrageous at that time. She was working for FedExpress and also fixed some kind of back flow plumbing valves (she was raised in a family where her father was a plumber). At that time......she had a daughter about 19 who would be in her early 30's now and a son about 10. Her husband was comatose for many years in their early days and I'm not sure if it was because of an accident or whatever. Anyhow......for so many years of being alone.........she was DF'd after the bros told her that she could end the marriage if she............??? She did and they crucified her! She wanted to get married soooooooo badly...and my heart bled for her........I wished we were not 3000 miles apart. She eventually met a JW bro online and went and married him without knowing much about him. As most hasty JW marriages go......it was probably for ????? I'm pretty sure she moved to northern California where her family was. If you have any inkling who I'm talking about.....please let me know. I'd love to talk with her again. I still have her picture and if she any way resembles it......she is gorgeous today too! HappyDad

west123 My first mothers day without you..I don't have the words to describe how much I wish we celebrated mother's day all of these years. I didn't need a special day to show you I loved you but I bet you did. You were my mother everyday of the year, day in and day out, if I needed you and even when I thought I didn't. And now tomorrow I will bring flowers to your grave and pray to God to wake up from the nightmare I'm in. Wherever you are I love you, and will be giving you my love and respect in the best way I know how tomorrow, and everyday... WOW..........that is powerful and I thank you for your words. HappyDad

Mothers Day can bring up many issues for some of us.
For some their mothers have passed away and the opportunity to say I love you in person is forever lost. Thanks for bringing this up LL. My mother passed away in June of 1998.....two months after my dad passed. We had a great relationship and I wish she (and he) were still here so I could tell them how good my life is now that I'm not a JW. My mom was DF's in 1972 or 73 because of the smoking issue and never returned even though I picked her up for the meetings for many years. She kept hold of the religion for my sake.....always saying that someday she would kick the habit and return. I'm sure she felt that by doing that.....my wife, daughter, and I would not forsake her.
My wife died 2 years previous to the death of my parents and little would I know that at that time the seeds of discontent and fading away had already started to grow. It took a couple of years more for those seeds to become full grown.
To make a long story short............I wish my mom......and my dad were still here so I could tell them even more how much I love them and that I am sorry that I wasn't a COMPLETE son to either of them because of blindly following the doctrines of men in Brooklyn over natural love that they both showed to me and my daughter. My dad never was a JW and I'm thankful that my daughter has also been liberated from the borg.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL

That was great MsMcD..............
The kids should live a normal life......not a narrowminded borg life! In 1989 when I was still an elder, I let my daughter go to the prom and nothing was said to me at all by the rest of the yoyo's.
I hope she and you have a wonderful life.

Just got home from work and in my shirt pocket is a spiral notebook, pen and pencil.
Pants: Wallet, handkerchief, comb (even though I'm 80% bald), keys, some small change, and a flash-drive.

Whether it is church, company meeting, or any other public place where someone is speaking..............it is pure ignorance to deliberately leave a cell phone on..........other than vibrate. Certain types of cell phone use is the modern day epitome of in your face ignorance.
Why should an individual have to be reminded to turn it off or put it on vibrate? Most people are not that important that they need this modern day pacifier on 24/7.
The cell phone has become just that..........a PACIFIER. The users are a little too old to suck a "binky" but they might as well connect one to their phone. They think they are important, but how many calls do you see them getting while they sit in the bar or restaurant?
I love the fact that a lot of businesses are posting signs saying that they will take care of you AFTER you are done with your call.......and in the meantime..........we will take care of the person behind you. Hooray for these business owners who will not put up with ignorant customers who think you should cater to them while they talk on their "PACIFIER".
