Remember how great the get-togethers were in the 1980's??

i remembers skating parties at least once a month, volleyball at the park, get-togethers where everyone would play bible charades and sing kingdoms songs, going to the river to swim with the whole congregation after the sunday meeting, spending the afternoon at the lake eating watermelon and water skiing.

it was a great upbringing!

also, i dont want to leave out the strong feelings of eliteness that i had even as a child, of having the truth.

Yeah..........get togethers in the 1980's were nice! I was an elder at the time.

At that time, my daughter was a teenager and there were skating parties here in the Pittsburgh area. There would be all ages from many different congregations laughing and having a good time. There would be get togethers at homes for the related age groups and it was a way for young and old to meet their fellow "brothers and sisters" in a casual setting where one could actually be a REAL peson with views. It was especially good for our kids because..........remember............they couldn't/shouldn't/wouldn't have WORLDLY association. And they might even meet their future marriage mate. My kid met and would up marrying the "asshole" of all times. (divorced him within 3 years)

Then I guess the Bastards of Brooklyn got wind that it's "slaves" were smiling and laughing and learning to interact with others of the human race. Ohhhhhhhhhh........shit! That had to stop. So here comes Kenneth Alms.......a CO who didn't have a personality at all...........armed with the authority from the BOB (Bastards of Brooklyn) to wreak havoc and spread the disease of unhappiness to all in his Fiefdom. His lack of personality was evident as soon as you looked at him. He had the kind of face that never would.....or couldn't smile. The BOB wanted every "slave" to look like Ken.....unable to smile. He was on a mission along with the DO at that time. I think the DO then was Raftopholous (spelling) .......to do away with anything that made the "slaves" happy. They could high five each other because they succeeded in creating a doom and gloom atmosphere for the young ones and many of their parents. Me and my late wife included!

So what could the young ones now do for fun? Well...................it seems that after this.........they had to go to places where 99% of those in attendance were WORLDLY! And eventually a lot of the kids with half a brain came to the conclusion that the JW religion was a product of WHACKY and EVIL old men who lived off the fat of the land so to speak. Men who couldn't or wouldn't consider actual work for a living but sucked their life blood out of blind followers of a manipulative organization. (can you say CULT?)

Needless to say.........many are no longer a part of the BS anymore.

Hooray for freedom...........

Do Elders find the inactive and faders hard to deal with?

i've been inactive for 5 years now.i was taken off the ministry school, no hours in service, don't comment at the watchtower study and only attend 1 meeting per week.the elders try to see if i want to study with someone and i refuse.. have the elders marked me without telling me?

do they want to bother with members like me?

what is their next step?

I started fading in 1998. Meeting attendance was sporadic. In 2000 I had a guilt trip after reading COC in 1999. Tried going back and even knocked on a few doors. It was one of the most gut wrenching things I have done. It just wasn't in me anymore. I up and quit.........but it took awhile for the guilt to subside. My last meeting was Memorial 2003.

I've never looked back. I feel no guilt. I'm very happy as a Christian who is a church goer today.

The elders tried to contact me several times by phone and coming to my home. But they did not try very hard. I don't really think the majority of those men give a damn until the CO visits and orders them to check up on inactive ones. And that has been quite awhile for me.

I will not answer the phone if there is not a name and number on the caller ID and I definitely will not answer if I see it is one of them. And I would not answer the door if they came. You can't talk to brainwashed idiots. Except for the guy I brought in back in 1977. He hasn't called here for several years, but if he does, I will be more than happy to talk to him. I will certainly apologise for bringing him into a life of hell. What a story he would tell if he became one of us. Poor guy! He sure was duped.......and screwed over big time.......and I bear some of the responsibility of it!

However.........in the life I am in today........I will make my position known to any JW I used to associate with. I will give them a witness for Jesus now. Only problem is.......I never see anyone. They don't even disturb my neighborhood anymore on Saturday or any other day. The last time I even talked to one of them was in 2003.

Go figure!

That's What I'M Talkin' About!

call me a curmudgeon.

there are just some expressions in today's vernacular that are just idiotic, and "that's what i'm talkin' about" is one of these.

it is so ghetto.. several people are saying 'blah, blah, blah, de blah and more de blah..." suddenly, a dimwit in the group hears something that dimwit didn't even mention but happens to like the subject and then dimwit blurts out, "now that is what i'm talkin' about!".

Crimewatch - LIVE at my flat! & Have you been a victim?

so this is my 7th night living in my new place.

last night i was getting ready to watch crimewatch on bbc1 when i hear some strange noises out the back.

i take a look - there's two men breaking in to the flat next door but one - breaking the glass and then climbing in.. shortly after whilst i am still wondering if i really saw that - i am making a cup of tea and look out of my kitchen window and see a dubious character in a baseball cap trying car doors then stomping away and then coming back.

Elder quits meetings

i received good news from my daughter, it was amazing to her, but she informed me that she met an old friend from a congregations we attended 10 years ago, and the upshot was that the friends partents no longer attended meetings.

he her dad had been an elder the last i talked with him, he had left the congregation we were in due to the attitude of other elders there, went to a new congregation and the last i heard was very happy there.

we had had conversations about various aspects of the supposed truth and he always tried to counsel me about the troooth as spouted by the pharasies then.

Seems to me........after reading this post........that the believers were making their comments to their fellow believers.

Then the pot got stirred by the unbelievers who always seem to try to get the edge on a great upbuilding post.

Does sticking your nose into something good.......trying to make it look bad make you feel good?

I agree with the person who said that if you put God down in your post JW days........then you most likely put him down when you were a JW.

Do your own thing guys, but don't put us believers down when all we are doing is trying to upbuild one another.

Find a thread with other unbelievers to espouse your non-beliefs.

Elder lost privilages due to 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Why?

1 timothy 3:1-7 reads:.

if any man is reaching out for an office of overseer, he is desirous of a fine work.2the overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife, moderate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach,3not a drunken brawler, not a smiter, but reasonable, not belligerent, not a lover of money,4a man presiding over his own household in a fine manner, having children in subjection with all seriousness;5(if indeed any man does not know how to preside over his own household, how will he take care of gods congregation?

Way back.......in the prehisterical times of the 1980's and 1990's when I was an elder......the instructions on this were.......

If your kid was still under your roof and was df'd then you weren't doing your scriptural parental duties. You were to be removed. If the kid was out on his/her own and was df'd, then you were still a good ol boy.
