I was a lurker too!! Fun, innit!!!
Bull!
i've been lurking around these parts for a while and thought it was time to make a post, although one or two of you have come across me when i wandered into chat a few weeks back.
just a quick intro: .
i'm early 30's, was involved with the dubs since birth, but made the break when i was 18 to go to university (culture shock!).

i thought about this topic last night for the board when watching one of my favorite movies.. 1. the man from snowy river- the part when they are going after the expensive colt and they get to the edge of the cliff and all the other riders stop and "jim" keeps going and leaps down the cliff after the wild horses.
i absolutely love that part of the movie...everytime its on i have to watch it, if not just to see this part only.. 2. love and basketball- when she tells him she will play for his heart...awwww first time i started crying.
and then the music they had playing in the background made it even worse.
My top five favourite scenes....
5) There's something about Mary - with the new type of Hair Gel! Nice
4) A fish Called Wanda - Where Ken is trying to 'Bump orf' the old lady.. pooor ickle puppies.......
3) True Lies - Where Jamie Lee Curtis has to pretend to be a prostitute for her husband... slurp!!!!
2) American Pie - Broadcasting Nadia over the net, and the dancing!!!! Leaves me in fits!!!
1) Monty Python's search for the Holy Grail - The Black Knight - "come back an' I'll bite yer legs off. Chicken"
There's loads more, but I don't want you all to know just how twisted my humour is...!!!
Bull!
stinky pantz, who was truly missed, brought out an interesting point in asking the question about who loves us.
after thinking about her question for a while i felt i could not answer it at all.
i know who i love and how i feel about certain ones in my life, but i can not say with any true belief how others really feel about me.
I reckon a healthy dollop of both is required - I wouldn't settle for either without the other...
btw... just noticed I'm a senior member now! Woohoo!!... or does that just mean that I'm an old pr*ck ???
answers on a postage stamp... be gentle!!
Bull!
ate more than i've eaten in weeks!
breakfast and dinner buffet daily!!!
got to see people than i hadn't seen in ages!!!.
I haven't attended any DC's etc since being disfellowshipped.... but just wanted to say that was the ONLY bit of an assembly that I used to enjoy!
There, I've said it!! I actually enjoyed a bit of an assembly!!!

at my old hall, after the new sound system was installed, it would pick up am radio.. i have never known so much about the seattle mariners as i did in the 3 months it took them to find a fix for it.
El Kabong:
folding metal kind that would amplify the sound of a fart throughout the KH.I took great delight discovering that as a kid and made full use of it.
LMAO!!!!
Coolest thing I can remember about my old KH was the interest it generated when doing the quick build. We had dug the foundations etc, and it stayed like that for a few months. Billboards were put up advertising the quick build weekend, and the weekend before a passerby was heard saying "they'd better bloody well hurry up - they've only got the foundations and that's taken them months!"
Bull!
....or even, "what's the stupidest organizational rule that you know of"?
Sahs:
Nobody (even worldly relatives) allowed to clink glasses at a wedding
If I remember correctly, the origin of that one was from medieval times, when poison was primarily used for assassinations etc. All guests at a gathering would clink tankards, glasses etc vigorously, spilling a little of the contents into each vessel, as a sign that nothing was poisoned. As poisons came out of vogue, the clinking continued as a salutation between friends.
Why aren't you allowed to do it ??? Dunno... it really is a stupid rule!!
Gadzooks, here endeth the lesson methinks,

..and if so, what form does such psychological damage take?.
my own experience is that damage does occur.. i was 8 years old when my parents became converted, so i wasn't exactly a totally white canvass on which my personality could be painted.
but i was a light shade of grey, so the impact of wt teaching was still quite considerable.. i think the most damage that i suffered was in the area of guilt and unworthiness.
Keep it coming Eman - very articulate and an interesting read.
Cheers,
Bull!
i have a couple.
the elder that used to study with me came to my door one day.
he reminded me of all the wonderful times we had out in service (i really couldn't remember any).
My little sister has just received a letter from a young 'friend' because she's been missing a few meetings lately, had the old "we miss you" theme... yeuk!!
I've never had any call on me to tell me tey want me back.. sniff... they don't love me no more!!!!
Bull! <suddenly feeling very alone and unloved.... Yeah right!!!!>
orlando, fla. -- a central florida woman was fired from her job after eating "unclean" meat and violating a reported company policy that pork and pork products are not permissible on company premises, according to local 6 news.
" holfeld asked.
"we do, we can," kweli said.
Yay codeblue:
If that company doesn't want to abide by the policies of the USA, they need to move out of the USA to a country where they can make their own rules.
Pretty much how I feel, so long as they don't come over to England!

I beg to differ La Capra
The comments in the reporters interview from them was "The Koran forbids Muslims from eating pork."
She was not muslim, therefore they were forceing their religious beliefs upon her.
We have a society of political correctness, where every one and everything has to be tiptoed around, so as not to cause offence. I hope the judge throws the book at them and their intolerance - just like they'd be crying for if an employer only served pork in it's cafeteria!
