i`ve just had my third, one this morning, one at lunchtime after the gym and one now as i have been sitting in the sun and needed to wash all that smelly suncream off, and i might have one before bed.. .

Usually one...unless I've gone swimming, then 2...
I want a REAL bathtub so bad...this house doesn't have one...the only tub is a standard sized one that's in the boychild's bathroom, and well, I'd have to sterilize it before I even CONSIDERED setting foot in it (or anything else for that matter)....
Maybe our next home will have the garden jacuzzi tub that I covet...

i was raised as a witness, and have no real horror stories to tell.

The WTS claims to be "the truth"...how is that reconciled with Jesus Christ who said, "I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life..."
So...which is it? The Watchtower or Christ...your choice...

i was raised as a witness, and have no real horror stories to tell.
I'm a "never was"...I ALMOST got sucked in during a really bleak time in my life...but, didn't. Later, I married a man (my wonderful hubby) who's x-wife and children were/are JW's. I have witnessed the "christian love" shown by them to him, his family, etc. by these so called "good christians". So, yes, I've been affected by the WT. My husband essentially has lost his children since he is not JW and will not survive armageddon.
As far as the rest of your questions...in the interests of being polite, I won't answer them the way I'd like to, but will say that I think maybe you need to open your eyes a little wider to the world around you and those who have left this organization. Many of them have lost almost everything, family, children, grandchildren, just because they chose to leave a certain religion...
I left the religious tradition I was born, raised and educated in, and the tradition my mother still holds dear...YET...I STILL have my mother, I still have my children and grandchildren...can the WT say the same?

i plan to call up the branch office and pose as an 'interested one' and ask a bunch of difficult questions i am almost positive no jw witness will be able to ansewr.
1. if the supposed "light is getting brighter" then does that not mean that it is possile that many of the teachings that the society is teaching now may be false such as blood transfusions and the 1914 teaching?
2. since any witness who speaks against the wt and refutes one of their teachings and is therefore disfellowshipped for it, what if the very teaching that they spoke against turned out to be wrong later on?

the thread about the 6 million bible studies reminded me of some things that always bothered me about going door to door.
1. as mentioned in the other thread, there were times that cos and elders would tell us to not identify ourlselves as jws.
tell them we are "students of the bible" or "concerned neighbors", etc.
Wouldn't it be refreshing to hear a JW tell the truth for once and say, "Hello, my name is (insert name here). I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We're calling today to see if you'd be interested in buying some of our literature and converting to our religion."
Figure the odds...I love that "not trying to convert you" shpiel...
Another thought...if even the girl scouts go door to door selling cookies in uniforms, why can't the JW's wear some sort of ID badge? I mean, who knows what kind of nuts are going door to door? Maybe looking for a house that's easy to break into, or the cars in the neighborhood? Ya never know...me, I'd ask to see ID...maybe a blood card.

this last sunday a family party happened.
i knew i was not invited but since my dad recently stopped going to meetings he was not invited.
i submitted this same issue to silent lambs that this is another form of abuse.

I'll never in a million years understand the shunning thing. How can someone just turn off feelings? How can people bury feelings for family, sons, daughters, moms, dads, just because they leave a certain religion? It's horrid.

i started buying cds back in 1991. i haven't counted them lately, but i believe my collection is hovering somewhere around 500. how many do you own (not including burned ones)?.
i've also got about 100 (prerecorded) cassettes, about 150 lps, and 100 (pre-recorded) 8-tracks.
Uh...a bunch? Most of my LP collection is now on CD as over the years I've replaced them, and of course, bought new. I have maybe 50 in my truck (oughta get an MP3 player), maybe another 100 in the house and heaven knows how many have ended up in my son's room. He's a classic rocker just like his mama, and he tends to "appropriate" my CD's on occasion, and I never notice they're missing until I go looking for them.

i miss the days when i was growing up when rock groups, singer/songwriters and other types of entertainers spoke out against racism, the vietnam war, etc.
it felt to me like people were more passionate about making the world a better and more fair place.
