My wife and I are totally shunned after disassociation. In response to Simon's question, we were shunned even before disassociation by our families for deciding after 14 years or so to no longer shun my disfellowshipped brother. Shun, or be shunned. It hadn't been addressed congregationally, but once elders started calling we refused to play games and disassociated.

JW Nut Telling His Story Online
by pale.emperor inwhile searching for some jw related stuff online, i stumbled across this page created by a pimi.
his name is steve mcdowell and a watered down version of his story was published in the watchtower https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/wp20150701/bad-to-worse-life-story/.
however, this version, he says, is the full version.

Kids in my kingdom hall
by Akid48 ini think my last post i said i went to a new congregation,i'm going to just talk about some of the shit i have seen in my congregation.. there was a kid trying to talk to a adult next to him i think it was his dad,the kid just started taping him because he wanted to tell him something and the dad gets mad then boom the kid gets elbowed.i look around to see if anyone saw him do that to his kid and nope or they didn't want to say anything about it and just like wtf.. in my old congregation, the younger kids would do random stuff in the middle of the meeting to not get board.
when the mom or dad got mad i would see then get dragged to the back of the kingdom hall and hear them start crying.when i was still mentally in i just didnt think about it at all when it would happen but when i woke up im just like thats fucked up..

We had a "mother's room" that looked into the auditorium through dark tinted glass so you could beat your kids and still see the meeting. It was also practically soundproof other than the speaker inside drowning out the screams. I was too old to get hauled back, but I watched many kids get taken back there. My mom was a pincher though. No marks, acute pain, worked for her.

@LV101 - yes, it shows that the cult is willing to hide evidence that would prove the truthfulness of something. That should tell you all you need to know about the cult we all followed. They peddle "The Truth" but will do anything necessary to protect what they really love, money that keeps their god, the organization that they worship, standing. They have proven not to care about the truth of the pain they've caused by allowing pedophiles to be protected, they don't care about the deaths of humans due to their blood policy, they don't care about helping one's that are hurt by them, they only care about themselves. No charity work there, it's all for them. They should lose their tax free status and go be the mega real estate corporation that they want to be.

Also, to reach so far to pat yourself on the back in praise of their handling of child abuse cases makes you pretty much a disgusting human being. Do you feel good knowing that your cult sat on so many cases while discouraging people from going to actual authorities? Do you feel good worshiping an organization that even now fights against taking strong steps to protect the most vulnerable among them, that needs worldly governments to get them to take any action? I hope you don't suffer from motion sickness, because you'll need to find a bathroom after that much spin.

Wow, the brainwashing is strong with this one. It takes mindlessness to on one hand praise the cult for having no blood on its hands, then follow it up with the skewed view of their blood policy, a policy that goes beyond scripture and has led to the death of countless individuals.
What a load of crap. Your false prophet cult has been proclaiming "crunch time" for over a century, getting it wrong time and again. Your free ebook is sanctioned by the faithful and discreet slave I'm sure?

Has anyone started a support group for people leaving cults?
by Whynot inmy husband and i have talked about starting a support group but we feel we don't have the proper qualifications.
has anyone started a support group for ex-jws?
we even thought of hosting a social gathering or meet and greet.

As far as a formal support group with a specific process for helping people, I don't know of one. To me places like this, some Facebook groups, discussing sites about the various ex-jw media that's out there (youtube, podcasts, blogs, etc.), give people a place to find support. There are meetup groups in some cities where people go to the meetup website and then arrange to attend a group meeting. If a person needs serious help they should probably be in therapy of some kind. There are plenty of support groups for all of the issues mentioned, and they don't have to be specific to former JWs. There could be a former JW support group, but I'm not sure how it would be able to address all of the issues in the same group. I think there are usually specific groups for specific things in the world in general. Simply being an ex-JW may not be enough, you might have to have ones for each specific issue.
Just my 2 cents. -

Why the term "waking up?"
by Sour Grapes inis the term "waking up" the best way to describe when a jdub starts to have doubts?
to me, it is rather that a jdub realizes that what they have believed for years was a pack of lies and then they have to make a conscious decision if they want to continue to believe in lies or stop being a jdub or just go along for the ride.. it just amazes me how many die-hard jdubs there are despite every failed prophecy about the end coming, the borg being a part of the dreaded wild best united nations, the put down of women in the borg, the massive cover-up of the child abuse in the borg, the willingness to let a child die because they need blood, and the eagerness to shun a child who at the age of 10 got dunked to make mommy and daddy happy only to not want to be a jdub later and have the parents treat them like they are dead because 8 overweight, balding, goofy looking, incoherent men in upper state new york say that are the rules for being a christain.. jehovah's witnesses are a very sad cult that attracts people with emotional, psychological, or medical issues, have very large egos, can't make simple decisions, and believe in the tooth fairy..

I think waking up is a fantastic term for it. Most of us were lulled to sleep by the fear and indoctrination and we lived in a fantasy world, a dream world that didn't exist. We wake up, we start to see the world for what it is, we see the cult for what it is, and we can make choices and take new actions. Go to a meeting and most of the people are asleep. They're sleep walking through life at the direction of the next man that tells them what to do. They're brains are switched to auto at best, off at worst. They aren't awake to what is going on around them, to what they're a part of, etc. I personally love the term.

Episode 13 - Fernando is shunned by Jehovah's Witnesses - Is Out Now
by dubstepped inepisode 13 - fernando is shunned by jehovah's witnesses, is out now.. one of the hallmarks of growing up as one of jehovah’s witnesses is that feeling that you’re never “good enough”.
it drives a lot of the depression seen in the cult, and is often something that people that leave take with them.
imagine if instead of just feeling less than because maybe you aren’t hitting some goal of hours spent knocking on doors or taking care of responsibilities in the congregation that are expected of you the problem was something as personal and natural as your sexuality.

Well blownaway, we are just good for nothing slaves. We have to pummel our body and lead it as such.
I eventually got healthy enough myself where I questioned why god would send his son to die for such worthless pieces of shit like us. Of course, to me it's all fairy tales now, but I digress.
Can you imagine though how tough it must be, on top of that, to realize your very sexuality is something you can never beat out of yourself. It was interesting to see Fernando try to do as much as he could organizationally as if somehow he could outrun his nature. Pretty much heartbreaking.

Stress is tough on MS. People over cults man, do what's right for you and her. Good for you for taking a stand for her even if there are consequences to yourself.
