Thank you everyone for your kind expressions of sympathy. I have found the loss of my siblings tougher to get over than losing my parents. Sue was an ideal sister, who always let me know she loved me and gave me unconditional support. Growing up she always made me feel appreciated and safe, and never failed to treat her "birthday present" with kindness.

What's With INVISIBLE ??
by Cold Steel inthe 'dubs' came by today just as the wife and i were on the way out.
we chatted a few moments and the two guys wanted to know if i had any questions about the bible.
so i asked them to drop by in a day or two and they left me with two thin magazines and a book they jokingly referred to as "the gold nugget.".

Its genious is that it can't be disproven.
If someone makes the claim Jesus came invisibly then the burden of proof rests with them, so ask them to show you the proof.

Ever consider joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
by rawe inhas anyone here left jehovah's witnesses to join the churuch of jesus christ of latter-day saints?
what was your motivation for doing so and how has it worked out?.
if you haven't joined the lds or considered it, as an ex-jw, what is your general view of the lds faith?.

One of the first things I do when they come to talk is get them to tell me their first name. Then they can't use their "elder" title as some sort of buffer between us. Titles are artificial barriers that tend to keep people at arm's length. I like to butter them up by telling them I admire how they show dedication to their beliefs through their missionary works and how they value education so highly, unlike some religions like the JWs. After I've gotten them on my side I bring up the idea of shunning, giving the example of the JWs and get them to verbalize that it isn't right. And then I get them to admit that they themselves shun people who leave. They usually will say that it does happen, but it isn't part of their official teaching as something they should do. Then I bring up the fact that there is no DNA evidence to support their belief about a connection to the ancienct Jews.

Good for you. Enjoy getting your tree, decorating it, buying presents for your loved ones, exchanging gifts, singing holiday songs, watching Christmas movies, and the joy of your family as it celebrates Christmas, and screw the Gestapo and their minions who would seek to deprive you of spreading cheer and generosity onto others.

I left intially because of doctrinal issues. Since I no longer believe in the Bible, those issues no longer matter.
So, you can have a clear conscience in drawing people into an organizatiion that can lead them to becoming trapped themselves, perhaps destroying their own family down the road? Where is your moral compass?

I'll let Jean Luc Picard speak for me since we share the same taste in it, and since he speaks so much more eloquently than I.
