how is it that he is still able to post his tirade against the governing body and they have not done anything against him up to now?

Amazing's posts were removed per his request as he was going to be testifying or at least involved in ongoing litigation. And ya Jourles' dirtclod.com got shut down because they were giving him probs about copywrite and also could have outed him, which would have caused family probs for him. Hope this clears some of the confusion.

Yes, Valis, this does clear up alot. I was doubtful the WTBTS could so much as shut down a gay orgie in a Bethel dorm room, let alone someone like Amazing. It was per Amazing's request and the prudent thing to do pending the outcome of the stated litigation. Copyright laws, I understand, and that would be the only solid footing the WTBTS would have for pressuring someone to shutdown. But there are also fair use laws that enable anyone to use or reproduce so-called copyrighted material for the purpose of commentary and/or sattire.

As far as E-watchman goes, he is a coward and a kook. He has very little credibility and those that give any creedence to his s anctimonious little essays are just as dillusional as the big E himself. He actually brags that the wtbts knows who he is. There is no way in hell that Bobby/You Know could be a JW still in good standing with the WTBTS knowing his identity, and I will refer you to Franz's writings and his own story of being df'd. I would refer you to anyone who ever questioned or dissagreed with the Society publicly. E-watchman is a liar and screwing with the heads of the other idiots who listen to him. He only says that his identity is known to the Society so that his embasil followers become awestruck at his power and influence, I mean, think of the implications of his asserting such a thing. "The WTBTS is afraid of me! See! They won't take action against me! They don't have the balls to disfellowship me, therefore, I must be right! Bow down to Butthead!"

Why have they not shut him down with legal threats? How is it that he is still able to post his tirade against the Governing Body and they have not done anything against him up to now? We know that they monitor this and other sites.

It's called "freedom of speech" and he gets to say whatever he wants as long as it is commentary and opinion. The Watchtower does it everyday. The Society can't do a single thing about it.

A. What Is Fair Use?

In its most general sense, a fair use is any copying of copyrighted material done for a limited and "transformative" purpose such as to comment upon, criticize or parody a copyrighted work. Such uses can be done without permission from the copyright owner. Another way of putting this is that fair use is a defense against infringement. If your use qualifies under the definition above, and as defined more specifically later in this chapter, then your use would not be considered an illegal infringement.

So what is a "transformative" use? If this definition seems ambiguous or vague, be aware that millions of dollars in legal fees have been spent attempting to define what qualifies as a fair use. There are no hard-and-fast rules, only general rules and varying court decisions. That's because the judges and lawmakers who created the fair use exception did not want to limit the definition of fair use. They wanted it--like free speech--to have an expansive meaning that could be open to interpretation.

Most fair use analysis falls into two categories: commentary and criticism; or parody.

1. Comment and Criticism

If you are commenting upon or critiquing a copyrighted work--for instance, writing a book review -- fair use principles allow you to reproduce some of the work to achieve your purposes. Some examples of commentary and criticism include:

quoting a few lines from a Bob Dylan song in a music review
summarizing and quoting from a medical article on prostate cancer in a news report
copying a few paragraphs from a news article for use by a teacher or student in a lesson, or
copying a portion of a Sports Illustrated magazine article for use in a related court case.

The underlying rationale of this rule is that the public benefits from your review, which is enhanced by including some of the copyrighted material. Additional examples of commentary or criticism are provided in the examples of fair use cases in Section C.

2. Parody

A parody is a work that ridicules another, usually well-known work, by imitating it in a comic way. Judges understand that by its nature, parody demands some taking from the original work being parodied. Unlike other forms of fair use, a fairly extensive use of the original work is permitted in a parody in order to "conjure up" the original.

baptized at 12?

i'm considering what to say to a friend who's thinking about letting her 12 year-old get baptized.

These are my two oldest brothers, Jim and Ron. They were coersed into baptism at ages 11 and 12. The burden and responsibility of serving "kingdom interests" was too much for them to bare on their young shoulders and they were disfellowshipped by ages 12 and 13. No sh*t. They are well into their 50's now and they have not completely gotten over the shunning and terrible treatment.

There is no way in hell a child that young could possibly know what they want to do for the rest of their entire lives and it is entirely too much to expect a child to live up to such weighty responsibility. While Samuel might have been given over to the high priest at the tender age of 9 or whatever, it was entirely under different circumstances.

A child so young, if baptized, will never have the room to make mistakes, "f*ck up" as it were. They will be expected to tow the line from now until forever. There goes their childhood, their identity, and their entire life.

TELL THIS NUT JOB FRIEND OF YOURS THAT JESUS DID NOT GET BAPTIZED UNTIL HE WAS 30 YEARS OLD! My god! Jesus was supposedly more spiritual than any little boy that ever walked the earth, but remember, he was the example we must follow closely, and no such pressure to present yourself as a living sacrefice to the organization should be place upon them until they are FULLY MATURE and UNDERSTAND FULLY what their dedication means, and son-of-bitch, child baptism and the commitment that comes with it is absurd for a child to take on.

Tell them to call me and I will talk to them.

Sincerely, what was it the poster was made to "shut down"? Which "body of elders" letter are we talking about?

What did the posts contain that were forceably removed? I really don't understand.

I am about to become their worst enemy, I can tell you that much. I am intrigued by the possibility they might come after me. They day they do come after me is the day they will regret, and this is not an idle threat. It's just the way it is.

In "The Truth"?

while at assemblies we would often see friends" in the truth", and one of the questions they would almost always ask is, are your kids still "in the truth"?

it seemed the thing to ask, with so many falling away from" the truth".

reflecting on that expression "in the truth" i think that most witneses feel as i did, that the watchtower had pretty much cornered the market on "truth" from god's word, hence the feeling that if we stayed close the the watchtower organization, we without doubt had,or were in, or were closely associated with "the truth" .

About a year ago, it was that simple distinction between "being in the truth" and "the truth being in you" that got me to thinking and on my way to apostasy.

Jehovah's Witnesses have the greatest propensity to lie in general than any other religious group I know of. They have greatest capacity for denial than any other organization. The truth is definitely not in them. As far as "being in the truth", that is just a silly think to say.

apostate inaccuracies

granted i havent been to the kh in years.

but when i did several talks dealt with how apostates lie about the wtbs, the apostates make up stuff and attribute the quotes to wtbs.

apostates all have evil intentions of taking god away from you.

It would not bode well for the WTBTS to give specific examples of the so-called lies and half-truths. Too many members would read it and really start thinking about it. Too dangerous. Better for them to do what they have always done, and that is simply tell their members to reject anything and everything not published by the WTBTS.

I doubt the WT could shut down any poster. What can they do? That sounds absurd to me. They might threaten, but it is all hot air and a big fat "BOO!", nothing more.

Is he so clever that they don't know who he is? Some have said that E - Watchman is none other than You Know who use to post here.

His name is Bobby. He is a kook, and yes he use to post here. He as 2,162 posts under the name: You Know

I really don't think the WTBTS gives a hoot and a hollar about his crazy arse, and I think all these rumors about the WT going after those spreading opposition is just that: rumors.

I can't help but wonder if C called your daughter (out of the blue) because he has heard and seen how you have gone to bat for her. Instinctively he knows you will try to help and protect him.

I think you may be on to something there. I remember the faces of the children and the teenagers at the KH when I was out there with my big signs. They also saw my girls standing out there boldly with signs exposing the abuse. Their mouths were hanging open in disbelief, but you could also tell they were impressed; they saw their peers actually speaking out about something they themselves can't find the voice for.

To the JW's I knew personally who had teen children of whom I knew were also going through the same things, and drifting, into drugs, alcohol, leading "a double life", I would ask not only if they knew my children were being abused (implying that I knew they at least turned a blind eye to it because they were treating their kids the same disgusting way) and I would also ask how their kids were doing. It really struck a nerve in them I could tell, but it also sent the message home that I KNEW and they were in danger of being exposed too. The cowards.

I once had a telephone conversation with C a few months back when Elese was dating Carl. C is a close friend to Carl and would often call the house secretly, sneaking behind his parents backs to talk to my girls. I told C that I was aware that his parents would not approve and that I felt uncomfortable with it. I used a little phycology on him, for his benefit, and told him that while I thought highly of him, respected him, and wished that he could freely associate with my kids, that I really would love to see that happen, I thought he should not be sneaking around behind his parents backs. I told him that, other than that, I looked forward to the day when he was free of the bullsh*t and able to confidently and freely walk into my home knowing he had people that cared about him. He thanked me and said he understood.

Well the situation has definitely degenerated in his home and elder-dad is probably sweating losing his position in the congregation when he sees his youngest son wants nothing to do with "the truth", which indicates that he does not have his family in submission. So he bares down harder on the boy. He will either break him, or kill him trying. It angers me so much I don't know whether to spit or go blind.
