  How would you explain jws to a non-jw?

  in the past, when i've been talking about being a witness they haven't really understood just how much of an impact it has on your life unless they've been one too.

  whats the best way to explain it to someone who has never been a witness and had little contact with them?

  i'm more thinking of how much control there is over your life, and the reason why a lot of witnesses feel down and suffer from depression, ect.. gadget

  Its like having an abusive high control parent with multiple personalities. One whom you love and totally trust.

  That parent only loves you for as long as you are under their control and dont ever question or even dare to think of disobeying no matter how bizarre the rules that you have to live by.

  If you are bought up with these rules and dont ever question then you will believe they are the best way to live and even please the creator. T o step outside these rules means you come under attack from the demons. It also "proves" to your parent that you dont love them and therefore they will have nothing to do with you. You become as dead to them. Worse than that you died doing something evil beyond belief. You are never spoken about or mentioned. To all intents and purposes you never existed.

  This control is there and total no matter your age or abilities.

  This parent can appear very loving and caring to the outside world but only you from inside the emotional prison of the family circle can feel and see the abuse.

  If you come to know these rules as an adult it is learnt through gradulism.

  No one ever really tells the truth about DF or DA and its repercussions. No one tells you that you cant just change your mind and still be friends with people you have maybe learnt to know and love for 5, 10, 20 or more years. You too become as dead to them. Worse than that you died doing something evil beyond belief. You are never spoken about or mentioned. To all intents and purposes you never existed.

  i'm new to this, i've spent the past 2 years trying to pull my head out of the bs.

  i've refused to live a double life - i have nothing to hide - apparently others think otherwise!

  so i'm ignored - no problem, makes the bs easier to ignore.

  Caspian is off on his Jollies.......

  me and my good lady are off to france for a week tonight for some much needed r&r,.

  we have a family cottage that we can use in the dordogne or as you chaps over the pond call it the door dog nee.. .

  hopefully the weather will keep up and we can make good use of the pool.. i fear that the chateau neuf de pape will come in very handy.. sincere thanks to you all.

  i think most people are unfamiliar with why certain people behave the way they do.

  most people lable those who are quite different as the rest as nutty, strange, plain nuts.

  Off course one of the main points that will disturb the general public is that everyone is contacted at their home by a JW.

  The question should be is there a peadophile peddling the Bible in your area?

  Can a Dub wife have holidays if her non-Dub hubby "instructs" her to?

  wasn't there an article stating that the wife of an unbeliever couldn't get in trouble with the congregation if she participated in holidays at the instruction of her husband?

  (ie purchasing presents that he told her to) wasn't this because of headship rules?

  where does that leave the unbelieving children?

  Nessie is lost !

  that's right folks ... british scientists have combed every square inch of loch ness looking for nessie and can't find her ... she has left the pond and gotten lost.

  if you see her please report to the nearest constable ... nessie, we will miss you.

  I have to verify that Amazing is quite right with his information.

  We where at Lochness about 3 weeks ago and despite spending quite a few hours there we didnt see Nessie, and if she/he had been there we would have done wouldnt we?....
