just wanted to write a post to introduce myself and say hello.
im new here, although i've read many of the posts here for a few months now.
i was raised as a jw since i was 4 years old, elders daughter, pioneered the whole bit.

Thankyou for having the courage to post your story. I am so glad that you now have a life of your own choosing and are no longer controlled by the WTBTS.
As you have found it takes time to really get this out of your system and realise that they are NOT the truth. Only when that happens can you start to move on.
I am sure that your post will help others who are still trapped.

I think the stocking can either be put at the end of the bed for a young child on xmas eve and the "santa" fills it up whilst they are asleep.
Alternatively it is hung up by the fireplace in the sitting room. Then you can also leave some milk and biscuits for santa and his reindeer as refreshments. Off course you musnt forget that he has to come down the chimney.
These stockings will only be filled if the child has been good LOL.

i've just read in another thread that due to circumstances the secret santa for this year hasn't been able to happen, so i want to try and organise another one!.
according to the lady at the post office, the closing date for international mail to be delivered before xmas is this week, but for post on the same continent we still have a few weeks so i'll try and take that into account so everyone can have their prezzy before christmas day.
if everyone who wants to join in can pm or email me at [email protected] with their details before 12noon sunday 30th november(uk time), i'll try and get the details back to you by sunday night.

a thread that was posted recently was talking about the audiocassette and it brought back memories of how i became a company man or as we used to say ?a society man?

o yes-- the reading of the mags- well when i was at bethel there was a reading test given to all ms who wanted to sign up for the opportunity to be a audiocassette reader/ dramas

i've heard the expression a few times here but have normally not taken much notice.
i've been exited for 31 years and 4 months, well before the onset of elders, reproofs and marking.. i understand the first 2 but am all at sea about the the third.
someone please tell me exactly what "marking" is and how one becomes marked or a marker.. or markee!

when we finally stopped going the the meetings and other half hung up his "flock" book, there was a local needs talk at the hall given by the PO.
In it he said that there are "certain ones in the cong who we maybe dont see as often as we used to and whilst they havent done anything wrong it might be wise to avoid close association with them and to be careful etc etc"......
Thus we are marked and the cong knows that.
We are not Df or DA.
We know about this because our sons happened to go to the meeting that night and reported back to us.
BTW the we considered the PO a close friend as our children had grown up together and we holidayed together at least twice a year and regularly went out for meals or to each others homes. You live and learn, he has never even phoned us.

i am thinking of writing a letter of disasociation, sometimes when faced with a hard decision i make a list, a lot of times it takes a number of lists befor i get any clearity.
here is my list so far.. 1) do i really need to in order to recover?
its been almost 8 years doesnt time help to heal?.
My reasoning is
I didnt write a letter to join the dubs and I sure as hell am not going to write one to leave.
