  Problem doing Scan of Guardian / UN article

  sorry for the delay.

  i set my scanner up yesterday and discovered that it must have got busted during our move - everything has horizontal lines on it and it now makes a wierd noise that it didn't do before.. i'll buy one asap and get things moving.

  i spoke to the man who heads the ngo office at united nations headquarters.

  i will not release his name at this point because i was asked not to by the individual who gave me the contact information.

  Does the french and other goverments know that this cult no longer has ngo status and thus is no longer quite so respectable and mainline as it once claimed.

  Are the french goverment still persuing their claim against the wtbts.

  Can this lack of status now be used in other ways?

  MAJOR UN/WTS/NGO NEWS - WTS IS GONE

  as of 11:45 this morning (i had a telphone call this morning with the refernce department person named holly at 212-963-7234), i can tell you that the watchtower has disassociated itself from the united nations dpi!!!!!!.

  the dpi is now taking them off the list.

  the dpi requested the list removal to be done this morning!!!!!.

  If they tell the R&F about this the spin will be that the political elements have started turning on religion as they have been prophesying for years.

  They will probably forget that according to them its babylon the great that is devastated first and then finally they are supposed to turn on the "chosen ones"

  But could the wtbts actually be Babylon the great and we so called "apostates" be the ones who have "got out of her"?

  So many ways to spin a yarn and pull a fast on.

  For Venice And Guardian Wanters!

  i had a few pleasantries with venice yesterday re obtaining copies of the guardian newspaper.. i visited my newsagent to try to get back copies, unfortunately they are picked up for re-cycling by the guardians agents the same night, so no joy there.. i phoned their ho, they told me that back-copies are available at a price from a company in london who will post them to you, (they specialise in papers on the day that you were born, that sort of thing) telephone 020 8763 6363. outside uk, dial +4420 8763 6363. there is an alternative.

  along with most british broadsheets, they appear abroad, including the us, 2 - 3 days after their issue date.

  so mondays guardian should be cropping up in the usa either today or tomorrow in the busier news sellers, especially in tourist areas and airport shops.. i think it will cost about $1.50.. by the way, don't ask for the manchester guardian, its now just known as the guardian.. englishman.. .

  this is the email address to which everyone here should send at least one email regarding the wts's "associative status" with undpi.. the wts's ngo subject of interest is "human rights".. we should document to undpi that the only "human rights" that the wts is interested in is their right to enslave other humans.. your email doesn't necessarily have to be a "research paper" on disfellowshipping, shunning, shielding of child molestors, etc.

  some of the most effective emails will be those relating the intimate personal experiences of those harmed by the wts's own human rights violations.

  is there any way to get a subscription to the magazines with out having to go to the hall??

  i would like to see what kinda stuff is in them these days.. just for fun:) an elder came by a few months ago and i asked if i could have a subscription and he said yes he would fill one out when i came to the hall to make a donation.. uugghh no way i am going there.. can anyone help me?

  Another way to get hold of WT and Awake mags is to scour your local hospital outpatient clinics. Faithful JWs who work at the Hospital will always leave a set of the latest mags for patients to read.

  Choose a busy clinic morning, maybe with 3 or 4 clinics running simultaneously, then you can inconspicuously remove the mags from the table. When the faithful JW notices they have gone, they will replace them - well it helps out their backlog of mags AND their reporting for the month- can't be bad!!

  note: i originally posted this under the un/ngo thread, but decided to make a new thread.. while the board was down yesterday (sunday) i wandered over to h20's site to check out the discussions about this whole un/ngo-wtbts connection.

  someone had alluded to the fact that perhaps apostates were actually the ones that forged lloyd barry's signature and filled out the paperwork to get the society signed up as an ngo.. here's the link:.

  According to the Guardian Newspaper (8 Oct 01), "being a recognised NGO with the United Nations - as more than 1,500 organisations are - gives status though not grants."

  So where did the information come from that said the WTBTS benefited financially?

  I am not being awkward, just curious, and like to get all my facts straight. Then when I verbally attack JW's with it, I get it right first time!!

  “In an internal document, the WTBTS describes its policy as a “theocratic war strategy”. It claims: “In time of spiritual warfare it is proper to misdirect the enemy by hiding the truth. It is done unselfishly; it does not harm anyone; on the contrary it does much good.”

  Is this a tactful and clever thing to say, using words like “spiritual warfare”, “enemy” and “war strategy”, less then 4 weeks after the World Trade Centre and Pentagon were attacked by terrorists during their spiritual warfare?

  Do you think the UN realise that the WTBTS are using this terminology?
