  Latest Watchtower study... Still discouraging higher education!!!

  one of the paragraphs read that 'if in the area where you live you need higher education after you graduate, then the young person must speak with the parents in order to help them balance the schedule so that he/she doesn't neglect spiritual things'.

  alright, i thought, that's a somewhat balanced point of view; i thought, good they're coming along with the times we live in.

  Logan, I agree...as a matter of fact, I had a conversation with my father, I said, I want to be able to do more in education...I want to be happy doing a job at something I love to do.....his only response was 'this world is temporary'....well, their temporary is lasting a little too forever for me.....

  The whole JW mentality is that this world isn't going to last much longer, to take a menial job and pursue a career in the ministry, well, that's what they think is best in this system until the 'New Order' when God will make everyone happy and fulfilled.

  I could sit and be bitter about the past and not getting a better education....but in reality, I thought that way too, I thought by pursuing spiritual things first that was what was important, and everything is else is secondary. I'm just glad now, that I don't think that way.....they're never going to change their views on higher education....because that would mean that they don't believe the 'New System' is so near anymore.

  Elders Meeting

  allright let me tell you what happened yesterday.

  i went to the meeting yesterday because my cousin was visiting and wanted to know where the kh was located.

  i finally offered to go with her to avoid any issues.

  The problem with having a meeting is....there is one of you and 3 of them...not fair...you will be outnumbered, yeah it's easy to say, 'what are you afraid of?'...etc, etc.....it's not fear, it's just pointless, unless you want to be DA'd, just come out and let them know, no "formal" meeting needed.....I would just tell them, 'you know, I think I have all of my questions answered now...thank you for your concern'......let it be....don't put yourself through 'the meeting'.....it's not worth the stress....

  On my 4 hour plane ride home from Tahoe....I watched the feature presentation to kill time....Starsky and Hutch....what a stupid movie! I should have just read my book.

  I went to one of the three assemblies

  yes, i confess i went to an assembly... shame on me!

  the only reason i went was because my father started to shun me... because he said that i am to "bad" i don't know how i am a bad kid but in his eyes i am... and i didn't want that to happen because he is still my father regardless so i went to make him happy.

  so yeah i had to sit there for 6 hours striaght i was bored out of my mind... .

  My daughter has to go through something similar, but her father bribed her to go atleast 1 day, he said she could get a CD or a new movie or new playstation game.....yeah, that gets him a lot of respect, my daughter was even a little taken back that he'd even resort to bribery....I think she went because she felt sorry for him....he had to look good for the family, how pathetic....

  I read one of the threads relating to someone 'fading out' and someone had suggested joining a group or club for some sort of support....well this is it....if you are athletic, or, even if you're not and just want to get into shape and want some training...etc....join Team In Training....you'll realise there are a lot of very good people in the world that try to do good for others.....it's a great learning experience all the way around. I enjoy endurance sports, but I will never do another long distance anything unless it's via Team in Training.....enjoy! I'll post pictures next Monday when they're all developed on a disc.

  When is it ok to have sex?

  i always get different answers when i ask this question, or i get answers that contradict with the people givin the answer.

  i ask this to various forums online and they all end up saying, when your ready and you know the conciquences.

  however, that obviously doesn't work much or isn't the truth when so many little kids are getting pregnant and aids are everywhere and everything else.. so seriously.

  My daughter is 13 going on 14....I've sat her down and talked to her openly...one thing I've said was, I would prefer for her to wait until she is married, that is ideal, but not realistic, however, I don't want her to be with every guy she dates. I told her it is something special, and if it's not with the right person, it really is not very enjoyable, atleast not for the girl (speaking from experience)....I advised her to wait until she is in her 20's....or with someone she really feels good with....I also asked her to talk to me before she ventures forward.....she said she would....I can only request it and hope she will....:)

  Thank you all for you support, especially to Kate it was so very thoughtful of you to start a thread like this, and so very much appreciated.

  My plane leaves Chicago tomorrow at 6:30 am....I am a bit nervous and excited. I'll be taking lots of pictures and posting them on my website. I'll be returning from my trip Monday evening, so I'll let you know Tuesday how everything went.
