Maybe first base, if my principal was really, really cute.
Now, my principles on the other hand...
would you stand up and uphold your principals no matter what the cost or outcome?
would you pick and choose your battles deciding which really are the most important (to you) and letting some of your principals get battered in the process?
right now i have 2 scenarios where my principals are at stake.

they'd drive on the proper side of the road for a start.
englishman.
We wouldn't be the fattest nation in the world. Who the hell wants to eat British food anyway?
and no... it has nothing to do with pot.
my check engine light came on last night and the computer code was p0420... the catalytic converter, bank 1. .
does anyone in the dfw area know anyone who does this kind of work on the side?
LT:
Not necessarily true. My husband runs his vehicle on leaded gas (we're in Africa, we don't hate the environment) and has a catalytic converter in his car. Hasn't melted, nothign wrong with it. I took the catalytic converter out of my 1997 Chevy Blazer LT and it runs like a dream. If anything both our cars run better.

Okay, I don't know what a 420 is. I can, however, tell you to ignore the Service Engine Soon light. Mine has been on for 2 years, it just signals a problem with your emissions system, not necessarily your catalytic converter. In my case, the light is on (although it switches off every once in a while) because I brought my car from the US to a country where we use leaded gas so I had the catalytic converter removed before I left. My husband, on the other hand, brought his brand new Dodge Dakota P/U and left the catalytic converter in, uses leaded gas as well (that's all they have here) and his car runs beautifully.
Whenever your next vehicle inspection is scheduled they'll probably say something about it, but you can drive comfortably until that time comes and that will give you the chance to sure up some money. Conversely, you figure out which of the little switches in your car's electric system is responsible for the Service Engine Soon light and take it out. The light won't come back on, and unless they actually check your emissions they won't have a clue during the inspection because nothign will show up on your instrument panel.

Man convicted of raping infant
Saturday, March 13, 2004 Posted: 8:38 PM EST (0138 GMT)
TAMPA, Florida (AP) -- A jury has convicted a man of raping a 9-month-old girl and leaving her for dead in the woods.
Jurors on Friday rejected Randolph Standifer's insanity defense and found him guilty of kidnapping, sexual battery of a child younger than 12 and attempted murder in the second degree.
Standifer, 23, will be sentenced to life in prison, the only penalty allowed by law when a child younger than 12 is raped.
The baby's mother allowed Standifer to spend the night in her trailer home in September 2001. The next morning, she discovered that Standifer and her baby were gone.
Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies found Standifer, who confessed to raping and strangling the baby. He led them to woods where deputies found the baby still alive.
The victim, now 3, bears scars from the rape and a colostomy operation. She and her two older siblings live with their aunt and maternal grandmother.
Before the rape, the mother said, Standifer sometimes went fishing with her husband.
During the trial, mental health experts testified that Standifer as a child was repeatedly molested and shocked with a cattle prod by a neighbor.
Although jurors believe Standifer was mentally ill, "We believed he knew it was wrong, because he covered it up," juror Susan Groce said.
..... with my 7-year-old son!
last night, while i was still brushing my teeth, he crawled into my bed and laid his head on my pillow.
i jokingly told him that he wasn't supposed to be on my side of the bed and that he had to move.
Every day before I leave for work my five year old son says: "I love you five hundred and eight five million two hundred thousand six hundred million five hundred seven hundred thousand million and five (the number changes daily, he doesn't quite get the concept, he just knows it's a lot) and the whole wide world!" to which I reply with something similar, I'll make up a number. I love it, even though it's a bit silly. My 19-month old daughter doesn't speak too much, but she will spontaneously climb on my lap or come over and kiss me wherever she feels like. Sometimes she'll grab both my cheeks and force me to face her so she can kiss me on the lips. I love it. She's a real sweetie, she normally wakes her brother up every morning by climbing into bed with him and kissing him until he wakes up. I need to get that no video.
this is a spin-off thread to one posted today about bethel trips.
i find the idea of bethel, holocaust museum and broadway somewhat repugnant.
i have written before about the society's almost sickening bleating on about the concentration camps.
I have been to the Holocaust Museum in Washington several times and I have visited a couple of the concentration camps in Germany. I think it's important that we make every effort to never forget, even if it makes us uncomfortable. When I started my current job, by the way, I had seven weeks of initial training, and on one of those days we had to go to the Holocaust museum.
On a side now, I attended a congregation for four years in Germany. Two of the Kusserow sisters were in my congregation (at least one of them is dead now). Remember the WT had a big article about them? Several times actually. And there is a display at the Holocaust museum that talks about JWs and the Kusserow family. I remember we went over to their house one day and they showed me the letter that Hitler himself had signed ordering the execution of one of their brothers. It was chilling (even though I can't read German) to see it.
What makes my blood boil is that we (collective we, meaning the world) vowed that we would never let these atrocities happen, and yet we (by this I mean America -- since I'm American) stood by and allowed a genocide to happen in Rwanda in 1994. I worked in Rwanda briefly and traveled there a number of times. Even though the genocide was 10 years ago, it's still shocking to go there. Everywhere I turned there were people missing limbs, and other's who had lost entire families, etc. There are a couple really well written books that discuss the genocide in Rwanda (one is ..."we regret to inform you that you and your family will be killed tomorrow") if anyone is interested.
I'm embarassed to admit it, but when I was going through my uber-witness phase I dimed out my best JW friend, a RP sister twice my age. I can't even remember what I said, I think I pinned something I did on her. She got talked to but nothing else. She and I left the 'truth' at the same time and are still best friends and she never lets me forget about this! Fortunately we both have a good laugh about it now.
It's still embarassing though!
you're angry and thoroughly pissed off with all things apertaining to jehovah's witnesses.. you also know that this thread will be read by active jw's.
some of those jw's will be in the brooklyn bethel right now, reading what you write.. so, is there one thing, one belief, one policy, that, if it were to be changed or anulled, would mollify you?.
is there one change that they could make that would stop or lessen the active antagonism that you feel against the wt?.
Block in the text. Right click and copy. Go into reply. Left click on the clip board icon at the top of the reply box(5th along). Block in again. Left click on the little balloon thing next to the smiley face.
I did it!! Thanks Eman!

Englishman, you asked: "Is there just one change that would appease you?" No, there isn't. The organization is rotten to the core, there is no saving it, nor is there any chance of my going back. BTW, how do I do those cool copy someone elses text in my reply? I'd love to be able to do that.
