  apostates, brighter than the average witness?.

  what do you reckon, are we brainer than people who remain witnesses?.

  it may seem proud or boastful , yet i feel there can be little other expliantion.. or course people come across information at different times and in different ways and this will effect what they do with it.. but ultimatly to work out what you have been taught from birth is wrong when you are presented with false and baised information claiming to be true ,propergannda has been forse fed into your brain since a baby, your whole world of family and friends indoctrinated in the same ideas, man ,you've got to have brains.. no when i think of all those people i've left behind in the "truth" i think of people who don't question who like to be told what to do.. people who may have done a little research to justify their faith, but only just enought.. lets consider ourselves a lucky group of people, who have had the ability to look at our lives and what we belive and reject it due to unrefutable evidence.. we have reached an other level of human conciousness.. others have reached it from different routes, but we've been able to cean the mists of human emotion and desire from our minds to see clearly the error of wishful thinking.. how many people who belong to other religions or follow other base less ideas have been able to do so?.

  You must be joking! First of all, you must realize there is no way you can generalize the intelligence of either group. And if you do, than it is out of the same arrogance that allows a self-righteous JW to look down on those who are not (and I am far from implying that all or even most JWs are self-righteous.)
  I know some extremely intelligent JWs and some very dumb JWs. I also know some extremely intelligent non-JWs and some very dumb non-JWs. I don't think there is a difference of level in intelligence or spirituality between those who stop being a JW and those who are faithfull to their beliefs as a JW...they just have different conclusions.
  And if you are going to make the assertion that their is a difference in intelligence, than run your posts through a spell check to catch words like "propergannda", it might add a little credence to your claim.

  i was a photo journalist in the so cal area for fifteen years.

  i have seen/photographed many things.

  however, this story takes the cake.. bizarre details of man's death revealed.

  That is truly a disturbing story. However, I see no similarity between it and a JW taking a stand on the blood issue as insinuated by others. A JW refusing to accept a type of medical treatment is nothing like a person refusing to help a dying person. Now if the man had asked her to do nothing because it was his spiritual belief that if his head goes through a windshield that he must not remove it lest he be disapproved in God's eyes, then I would say there is a similarity.

  Why do they call themselves Christians?

  i am not trying to be sarcastic.

  however, it just doesn't make sense to me.

  if a christian is one who "follows christ" how does that apply to the jw's?

  They call themselves Christians because they make a point of studying the life of Christ and imitating his example. Whether or not they are "true" christians, I believe, can be argued either way without coming to a provable conclusion. Gumby claimed that God's free gift of salvation is not taught by the JWs. This is wrong, they repeatedly teach that God's gift of salvation can not be earned and is indeed a free gift. However, in addition to this, they teach that you will not receive this gift unless you are in God's favor, henceforth obedience to what they teach as his Word, and the works come as a result of this. I see no problem with this as it is consistent with the way God treated his people in the Old Testament. I'm not sure how to follow up to Kep's reply as he seems to be referring to a motive of those in charge as opposed to the beliefs of JWs in large.

  i refused to learn the books of the bible or to remember scriptures!!!

  even when i was a genuine, super-zelous ms!!.

  Wt will Win case Before Supreme Court

  i think the small time lawyer will be out gunned on this one- most small towns always end up passsing goofy laws like this one.

  while i have no love for wt i do know a poorly written law when i see one exp when the mayor is walking around in affect saying: "ww want to keep you people out".

  the boys in legal laugh when they see some elective dude say some off the cuff remark like that.

  i've been invited to go to a study group again, by a sister who i work with, she said she would like to explain some doctrines to me that i might had misunderstood, and would like to get together and talk.

  she also gave me 5 magazines--told me, of the great articles, that i should read.

  I replied with

  simply tell them that you understand what they are trying to do and appreciate it but you firmly disagree with their beliefs and are not interested in revisiting them.

  I feel I was the only one who gave you a reasonable response that didn't require you to lower yourself to the level of belittling others to make them not want to talk to you.

  Sorry if I seemed viscous, but most of my negative remarks were aimed at those who were responding to your post.

  First, on using the JW joke as a sales opener. I would not recommend it. A religous joke like that comes across as unprofessional and throws flags up right away that makes people think "oh brother, a snake oil salesman." The benefits of it are minimal and the chance of it backfiring are too great.

  Second, I can understand your reaction. When you expect people to laugh and then you have someone lash out at you can be a shocker and its easy to react before thinking it out. From his perspective though, perhaps his grandmother is a JW and he knows a bit about it and considers himself one. Or perhaps he is a hypocritical JW. Either way he was obviously offended by the religous joke. Ridiculing him in front of people for being offended at a derogatory religous joke does seem quite rash. I think an apology and explanation would be a very kind thing to do, and perhaps you will get the same from him in return. If you don't like the judgemental attitude of the JWs then be sure to act exactly the opposite.

  I'm not surprised with all the "hurrahs" and "go get 'em" from this peanut gallery. Its actually quite scary. I dread the thought of JWs being outlawed by a facsist government, I'm sure all the voluntary executioners will come from this DB.
