  do you feel better----emotionally and mentally since stopping meetings and living under the rules of the witnesses?

  i've heard reports of better physical and mental health since persons have left the organization.

  i'm listening to an mp3 cd at work today, and the song "driver's seat" by sniff n the tears came on.

  this song immediately triggered a memory.

  it was 3 years ago that my ex left me.

  When my ex left me I was really ripped up. Couldn't believe I would ever love again. "First cut is the deepest" by Rod Stewart really got to me for a long while. (of course that song's since been covered by a female artist, I forget her name.)

  Anyway, now I can hear the song, but listen with a more detached, dispassionate feeling. That is, since I met my present wife. She's great and I could not be happier!

  if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things?

  .all evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years?

  as a young person you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

  Yep, I bought into all this stuff. So did my parents. Articles like this one and even a few years before it, are the reason I didn't attend Ohio State. Wanted to go, took all the college prep classes, but a steady drumbeat of no, no, no from the WTS and my parents dissuaded me. What a shame!

  we often oppose reason (ratio) and belief, as if those were mutually exclusive.

  reason always works from presuppositions.

  Excellent remarks, Terry! I had never before put Jesus' words in that context. (what defiles a man, what doesn't). Good job.

  Any word on sitting around a campfire and inhaling the equivalent of a pack or two of smokes? Is that still considered wholesome by the WTS? How about persons who live in smoggy areas like LA? Shouldn't they be advised to move? Tactfully, of course. Oh, and fire fighters, (they're called "smoke eaters" for some reason aren't they?) Exactly how Christian is that? Rushing into burning buildings where lives are at stake, all the while filling your lungs with known carcinogens?

  (my wife and i operate a small business that did business with several khs in the area and a few outside of it.).

  now, that's a funny turn of events, isn't it?

  Good points, Scully. I guess you're probably on the right path. Let them decide they'd prefer NOT to do business with ME!

  But then again, darn! I've always wanted to tell them that "unless they turn around, repent of their wrong doing, blah, blah, blah" (sound familiar?) they can't come back to me. Oh well..........

  Funny thing, they can "mark" you, but you can't mark them. (as bad associations)

  Oh well, the thing will collapse under it's own weight soon.

  That's funny Scully! Mr. Scully sounds like a really funny guy. Loved it.

  But can you really get into trouble refusing to do business with them? I thought in America, as an independent business, we can refuse service to anyone and any group. I am aware that there's employment law that prohibits such discrimination. But does it extend to this?

  Maybe some legal beagles on this board have some expertise in this area?

  Thanks, you guys. It's actually kind of a liberating feeling. I like the idea that I'm being pro-active too.

  It seems all my life I've been told to wait on Jah, wait for new light, wait for something to change, etc. Wait, wait, wait. They like to keep you feeling dis-empowered. Like you have no say, no power, etc. Well this time the table's been turned!

  Not that they're stymied in any way. There's other shops that can obviously service them, it's just the absolutely great feeling I get finally being in a position to say no to them!

  Now, that's a funny turn of events, isn't it? I'm going to have to tell them, when they call, that I can't in good conscience associate with THEM! The thought of doing business with them now turns my stomach and I'd be happy to tell them why.
