  I don't know how to ask this ?

  ok so anyway i have been fading for a little over a year now.

  during that time i have been primarily focusing on improving my social skills: reconnecting with old high school pals, trying to make sense of the world, trying to connect with others, opening myself up to new belief systems, activities.

  now that i am becoming more comfortable around people i am considering pursuing a relationship with someone.

  I would agree -- try not to get sucked in to past boundaries and teachings. Keep it light, date more than one person and also socialize as much as you can in groups to get to know a broad range of women, philosophies and styles. Avoid approaching women from a JW point of view - rather, treat them as equals.

  Try to stay on receive as much as you are on send. What I mean by this is truly listen to the person you are with. This is how you will inform yourself about who they are and where they are coming from. Plus you will send a strong positive message and demonstrate interest in them ... which is a positive, trust me.

  and for goodness sakes, don't pay any attention to the victim-advice quoted below, not if you are serious about finding someone cool and compatible to hang with ...

  No Solution Required.

  my nearest and dearest told me something a few weeks back.

  actually, i think i always knew what she told me, it just helped me clarify things somewhat.

  she says that when she tells me about something that has gone wrong with her life, she isn't looking for me to necessarily find a solution.

  I agree this is a major difference between the sexes. Women tend to work out their solutions by talking about the problem. Men internalize the problem and talk about solutions. Many times women just want a listening ear.

  That said, I think all of us have the tendency to want to offer solutions and "you shoulds" when someone shares a problem with us. We'd all benefit by pausing, listening and offering help .... "what can I do", " do you want my opinion or idea " ... as opposed to just assuming.

  i thought it would be cute to mix a little dubdom with mothers day since i'm jealous of everyone who gets ta give their mom sumthin and i can't..........so i'm condemning you damn pagans!mothers day origin moms are the best things that ever happened in the world.

  on may 11th every year, we celebrate 'mother's day' as an opportunity to express our love, respect and gratitude to our mothers for all the things she has done for us.

  i've met posters on 3 occasions, twice in montreal, and once in toronto.. how about you?.

  I'd like to think it was isolated too...but someone I really like was hurt badly and deeply offended by that *one* incident. The thought of that and how much further it could have gone, and very easily too ... shook me up and made me think I was pretty naive to put an open invite out there for the one at my home. That said, mine went very well and there were many great people.

  But after the meltdown in Seattle I decided to be a lot more cautious and only attend or host closed invitation get togethers.

  ask yourself the question "do i have the kind of personality that is attracted to a strong person or entity that speaks with authority, and is very assertive?".

  most of us just want to follow the leader.

  it makes us feel protected and secure.

  I have been to a few...but the last one scared me............everyone got blasted......

  I don't know about that, but .... I was at the same one and because someone got STUPID ... I doubt I'll go to another. Would also think twice about hosting one ... at least an open invite. Would do a closed invite one so I know who's coming to my home.

  That said, I have met several amazing people as well at Aposto-thingamebobs...and wouldn't replace that experience or acquired friendships for anything.

  i know this is not very important but it was just a shock to me......said he lost the battle with a long term illness he had.....people are just dying left and right....kinda scary....i don't think he was that old...... now who are the famous people gonna turn to to get them out of trouble....let's hope oj doesn't screw up again...
