  If it wasn't for the Truth why would anyone be moral?

  of all the assinine comments that are made by rank-and-file jehovah's witnesses i've got to conclude that among the dumbest are comments to the effect that if it wasn't for this religion (the jws) there would be no reason to act in an ethically moral fashion.

  take my sister, for instance.

  she once related that if it wasn't for the truth tm there would be "no reason" not to have sex outside of marriage.

  I think that it is very hard to say what we would do in our lives if it was not for the borg. We can't go back and change our history. If you were born in and had the doctrines mashed into your head you know no different about things. I mean yes as a youth you have the natural desires to do things but i always had a little voice in my head pricking my conscience, this voice in my head stopped me from doing many things. Now i think that i am more ballanced in my life i think i am a more moral person on the inside. My desires in life are to live it to the fullest not cheapen it.

  Were you happy as a witness?

  the few years that i was an active witness, i can't say that i was very happy.

  i really didn't mind missing a meeting.

  i always felt that a meeting every 2 days for the rest of my life was a little exaggerated.

  I always hated being made to feel like no mater what i was doing i needed to do more. for a organization who wants its followers to abstain from blood they sure wanted a lot of it from me.

  I would tell them to RUN RUN RUN FROM THE LIES BEFORE THEY DESTROY YOUR LIFE. I would do everything in my ability to try to show them that they should not get mixed up in the madness.

  What's the most ridiculous thing you were ever counselled on?

  one of the cornerstones of jw's is counsel.

  they just love to give counsel and many times they will literally make things up just for the sake of counsel.

  i was once counselled for joking around too much.

  I got counciled because some dumb a-hole said that i was driving too fast through the parking lot. The guy that said that about me was a notorious lead foot. He thought that everywhere he went he was in a NASCAR race. They also couciled me because i was planning on going out to buy a few drinks at applebee's when i was turning 21.

  WHY did you get baptised?

  i was just thinking back to when i got baptised.

  and i dont really remember the real reason why.. thinking about it seems to bring up the idea that i only got baptised because of the way everyone treats you when they find out you are getting dunked - and not specifically to serve jehovah.. baptism day comes and you sit there and listen to the talk.

  then you go out and get your swimming duds on and line up at the "whatever it is they decide to dunk you in".

  I liked this girl in my sisters hall and her parents would not let us see each other unless i was baptized. I was also getting pressued from the elders and my parents. I eventually gave in to all of it but mostly for the girl. What a dumb ass i was!!!!

  Pleasing Jehovah or Pleasing the Congregation??

  i was always annoyed with my ex for using the words "pleasing to jehovah" to describe certain actions.

  in actuality, he an his family (and i suspect others as well) seemed to be much more concerned with pleasing other witnesses or members of their congregations.

  as an outsider, it seemed to me that they were always looking for "loopholes" to get by with certain practices, as if they thought they could trick jehovah or that he wouldn't notice so long as they were not reproved or disfellowshipped.. my ex sister-in-law regularly spent the night with her boyfriend or he with her.

  My family i think is a good example of a hipocritical jw fam. my sister was df'ed for living with a worldly man who was divorced and a single dad. She told my mom and dad that she was only renting a room from him and was watching his kids for him. They decided to believe her. They would have her over to the house 3 or 4 times a week. They would let me go places with her. We even went on vacation with her once.

  Now though i am df'ed for living with my fiancee, and my parents won't have anything to do with me. I am not decieveing anyone. I guess if i would have lied and said that i was my fiancee's live in handyman it would be alright. I just am too good of a person to lie just to make everyone feel good about the situation. I REALLY HATE HYPOCRITES.

  i have this fascination with holocaust stuff, the memorial, movies like shindlers list, the history channels programs they have.

  last night i watched the pianist.

  it was an incredible movie.

  We were subjected to so much messed up stuff from the borg that i don't think we can help but have f"ed up thoughts and dreams. When i was living a double life I would always have nightmares about the gret trib. coming and we were all getting tourtured and my friends and family were getting killed. I was never able to stand up for the troof and so they did not kill me but to discourage me from being a witness they would make me watch the entire cong be exicuted. i used to have this dream all the time. But now it seems like the longer i am away from the borg the less i have it.

  Now that my parents know of my life decision, they have not talked to me in months. I really don't care about them any more. I figure that if they can turn their backs on me for me making myself happy for once in my life, i can go through my own life with no regrets about not associating with them. It was not my choice for them to turn on me my conscience is clear.

  10:10 a.m. and 2 women with mags in hand ding dong on my door.

  well, it started out nice enough, i asked for a list of charitable works, (for other than jws) where their soup kitchens were, how a magazine will put food on someone's table, i brought up the un, the pedo data base, the whistleblower dfings, hoping that they'd be interested in one.
