I noticed a lot of the “wild parties” were in California. A CO mentioned to us that California JWs were different and they all had California bibles. What is a California Bible? We asked. One that has never been opened the CO said

this is a very well written essay
by openminded infrench philosopher blaise pascal once noted, "men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction.
" a case study for this statement can clearly be evidenced by the governing body of jehovahs witnesses.
the gb present themselves as lovers of truth and righteousness who are the only persons on this planet who speak for god.

It gives one pause for reflection doesn't it? Not apologizing for what the WTS and its' GB has done but Ray Franz at the Commentary Press website http://www.commentarypress.com/commentmain.html also has a well-written essay. Ray's essay doesn't absolve the WTS for their error but it does point out that we as individuals can't absolve ourselves of where the ultimate responsibility for accepting or rejecting doctrine lies.

Are We Missing the Bigger Picture???
by drew sagan inwe all pretty much have come to the same conclusion here that the watchtower is a corrupt system that controlls it's followers.
through websites, tv, and books many have put in alot of time exposing the teachings for what they really are.
but is there something going on in the organization right now that is even bigger than the false doctrines, something that shows they are in the planning stage of something that's even more corrupt than what is going on now?

Yes Drew I also see the change. The organization seems frozen by fear of being proven wrong. Maybe this is due to availability of information we now have in the privacy of our homes and offices (via the internet, etc.) regarding the organization and its’ history. Another change though may be that we (people like you and me) have changed and we factor our change into what we perceive as profound changes in the organization. The next ten years for the WTS will be interesting for all of us to observe.

5’10” 163 lbs., balding and cut what hair I have very short. Physically fit and especially so for a man of around 60 years. Extremely analytical, believing there is a reason for every thing and that both sides of the issue need to be examined. I like to learn new things but make only well thought out changes.

Can you admit that you "used to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses"?
by undercover ini was reading about minimus' trip to the hospital and his telling them that he "used to be a jw" but he would take blood now if needed.. it got me to thinking; i don't like telling people that i used to be a jw.
that's in my past and i prefer to keep it there.
if asked about my upbringing or religious preference, i usually just comment on being brought up in a strict religion but i got over it..and then try to change the subject.

I’m still an active (loosely interpret please) JW and no more ashamed of it then if I was a Baptist or Catholic. I learned a long time ago to not make an issue of my religion or religious beliefs. I would be more ashamed if I was immoral or dishonest.

Do you think a nuclear weapon will be used in war or terrorism in our time?
by free2beme inwith all those nukes out there, and all the countries that have them or are making them.
do you think it is something we should expect, that in our lifetime a nuclear weapon will be used in war or an act of terrorism?
i personally think it is possible, and i think it would be the middle east that would see this happening.

The world is walking a tightrope with regard to the use of nuclear weapons. Do I think they will be used (again)? Yes I do, but hopefully and still catastrophically only limitedly. The major catalyst for the next major world confrontation will be control of the earth’s rapidly diminishing supply of oil. The oil fields are peaking and soon will enter the depletion stages of their life.
My honest opinion is that we will see if Jesus' statement "that if those days were not cut short there would be no flesh spared" is fulfilled.

Forgiveness the JW way -is'nt right!
by wozadummy infor many years it troubled me the way the watchtower handled the matter of forgiveness.. from the bible we gain the insight that jehovah forgives ,and is always ready to forgive, people who approach him repentently .. but it always seemed to me that when articles were commenting on how we should always be ready to forgive others ,we had to extend it beyond even what jehovah does and try to make ourselves forgive even those that expressed no remorse over what they did to us :.
to keep peace.
to move ahead .

I'm with you 100%. There is a certain elder who slandered me and then haughtedly lied about it. I would forgive him in a minute if he said he was sorry and owned up to what he did. Since he hasn't then I'll just say that I won't miss him when he dies.

FROM the source about downsizing
by Pistoff ini toured wallkill in the last month; the tour guide stated, in very clear terms, that the wt leadership is "sending home" many older couples and older ones, and replacing them with younger ones as they need to.
he did say it was because their experience was of more use in the field.
(snicker.
