  Stilla is right. They qualify their statements so that no one can say they stated something as a fact that was not a fact. Of course a JW is still expected to accept the qualified statement as a fact.

  What about calling out to Jah?

  the big to me is what about jehovah.

  after years of calling out to jah, literally, i start to wonder whether jah really helps me or rather it's just a type of mantra.

  i have started thinking that i have to look after myself.

  I’ve often prayed to Jehovah and believe he has answered many (but not all) of my prayers. Of course there are people who ridicule the idea of praying but since I believe in God, I figure that it can’t hurt.

  Did you get counselled for going backpacking months at a time?

  not many people will have faced this situation, but i know at least one brother who was counselled on backpacking.

  it was said that he would be damaged spiritually.. how would he get to the meetings in countries he travelled in?.

  what if he was 100's miles away from the nearest hall?.

  I was counseled for day hiking (carried a backpack) since I did it on a Saturday or Sunday and would miss either the Sunday meetings or field service.

  sometimes you wonder about the competency of some judges..

  if you live in the south east.. tn, ga, ky... this man is on the run..he is a confessed child molester , he was awaiting trial on several other counts and a judge lets him out on bond.. well he cuts his electronic monitor bracelet and is now on the loose.. .

  i have been told by people who know this person that he is a smooth talker and can convince normally sensible people into anything.

  Apostasy defined in the Elders Manuel

  Causing divisions and promoting sects.

  I've been told that disagreeing openly with the elders can be construed as causing divisions.

  Since they are humans and cannot see your heart or intentions, they would have to accept your "truth" wouldn't they?

  No! They somehow can justify any action they take.

  If homosexuals were treated as the Bible recommends.........

  a few years ago, infact quite a few years ago, i was working in fs with a particularly arrogant jw, name of mr spong.. there had been a case of a young boy of about 9 years old who had been sexually assaulted and murdered by a pedophile/homosexual man and this was in all the national press.

  bro.

  spong's presentation was on the bible and if it was relevant in todays world.

  How would banning homosexual activity have stopped this crime? I don’t believe a person’s sexual orientation is the cause of crime or criminal activity. Yes, the Bible does condemn homosexual activity and states that those who “Practice” this type of sin (which really is just another form of fornication) will not inherit God’s kingdom. This is not to say however that all people, heterosexuals and homosexuals alike are not deserving of respect as individuals. Child molesters and murderers come from both sets of sexual orientation, gay and straight. I agree, that brother was stupid.

  we have a lot of posts hear about the society's lack of substance over the past few years.

  as a result many dub's are leaving.

  yet i have also noticed many dub's trying to attend more mtgs.

  I see your point JW (james_woods). I kind of fall into the same category as your friend. I don’t' have a lot of problem with most JW doctrines but no longer accept their claim as being God's organization because of the hypocrisy and lack of true Christian love. Still, I remain a JW because of family and a few friends. If it wasn't for the family and friends in the organization I would leave in a heartbeat.

  i was just reading the post of ldh on that thread about "class" warfare.

  it made me think of something because she mentioned "socialism".

  way back when (60s & 70s) this was a very common objection out in the field service.

  My father, who was career military, said that JWs were on the congressional list of subversive organizations as a fifth column group (I think this meant affiliated with communists). The truth though (IMO) is that the WTS is fascist or Nazi in nature. All JWs are expected to function as private enterprises with the common good of the organization as a whole being their goal. This means they have freedom of choice as to how and what they provide the organization but providing the organization with its’ needs is number one priority.

  So how does the Governing Body represent the FDS?

  i was just browsing through the organizational manual and nowhere did i see the procedure for how the gb receives information for the anointed around the world.

  it seems reasonable to me that there would be some sort of arrangement for the fds to present "new light" to the gb.

  anyone know how this is done or even if it is?

  It's all an illusion. The concept of a FDS class functioning as if it were God is a great way to control the minds of the confused class.
