A mixed bag. There are the well meaning and the bitter, the experienced and the young, the fundies and the atheists. Everyone has two cents and you never know what color the marble is when you reach into the bag.

State A Simple Opinion About JWD Members
by nicolaou inwe share a common past but have travelled many different roads to find each other here.
our outlooks and perceptions of reality are varied and often fascinating.
most of us are encouraging, funny, helpful and kind while others are still wrapped in bitterness and hatred or suffering from despair and privation.

Lock bumping
by DJK ini just heard of this and tried it on my doors.
it worked with a small rubber grommet slid down the teeth of the key.. this is getting over the internet and that has raised my concerns.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr23tpwx8lm.

Hmm I had never heard of this before. Does it work on car locks or is it just houses that are susceptable.
Scully - if you cant unlock the deadbolt from outside that wouldn't provide extra security if you were outside the hosue right? Just better security when you were inside?

How being a JW improved my study skills
by Mysterious inwe all saw these barf articles about how kids did better in school because of the skills they learned as jws so i thought i should post all the wonderful benefits i have gained.
-i have learned how to look like i'm paying attention in class without actually doing so [yay participation marks, boo not understanding what's on the test].
-i have learned to underline on autopilot with no intrinsic benefit to my study skills [my book looks like wwiii so why don't i know anything].

-I have learned that how good you are at speaking matters for oral presentations as you will get a W if you aren't very good ;p (well you did before they changed the school) [seriously took me about 4 years to click that it's about the material not how good you are at public speaking]Anyone have any other mal-adaptive habits to add?

A posters sex?
by cluless inwhen i have been lurking and reading posts i have oftern assumed a poster was male or female only to discover i had there sex wrong.. can you recognise a posters sex by there writting style?.
-
Mysterious
Well some posters have their gender listed in the side bar that is always a big help. Clues such as husband/wife boyfriend/girlfriend references are somewhat helpful but in general no I don't think you can tell gender by writing style and most people typically are no better than 50:50 at it in controlled tests.

Very captivating Terry. I think the third person is even more powerful. We all know what it was like to be in a JW mindset but not all of us have thought about what others must have thought about us at the same time. Keep us informed as to how it goes, would love to read more!

Covering Your Tracks
by Poztate ini left the wt in 1982 seeing them for what they were long before the age of the internet.
i bought my first computer in 1997 with windows 95 and netscape 3 for a web browser.. i was naturally curious about the wt and did a search for information.
the information was overwhelming and helped to fill in the areas that i was not aware of.

100% real 7' tall tree. I just couldn't bear artificial when I could have the scent of an evergreen!
