Me and my shadow
by peacefulpete inone of the more shamelessly superstitious passages in the nt is acts 5:14-16 : .
"and more believing ones were added to the lord, multitudes of both men and women; so as to carry out the sick in the streets, and place them on cots and matresses, that at the comming of peter, if even his shadow might overshadow some of them....and they would one and all be cured.
this obvious proto-catholic passage is nothing short of saint worship.

Killer God & His Body Count
by dh indoes anyone know the exact number of people recorded as being killed by god in the bible?
not those killed by old age or illness or the acts of genocide that aren't given a death toll figure (like the flood), i wondered what the body count was for those acts of genocie that do have a documented death toll, or kill figure (god sent an angel to kill 100,000 etc).. anyone any ideas?.

If I remember right, Hitler did believe in God.
Anyway, depending on the number of people killed in the flood, the death toll caused by ole Yahwah in the Bible could be as many as several hundred million innocents, perhaps billions,

If You Could've Said Something You Weren't Supposed To Say........
by minimus inat a meeting-------what would it have been?
i can imagine making a comment at the watchtower study after reading blondie's review and spouting some of her research from the publications to mess everybody up or give a public talk and say something like," as we all know, the society has blundered many, many dates in the past and given some false prophecies, too-----but that doesn't mean we should stop trusting them, now does it????

There were several times when I would hear elders say something utterly bigoted and stupid, and want to respond with "Do you like pain?" And then, when they turned to look at me, smack them upside their head.

An evening of debauchery -- brought to you by Jehovah's Witnesses
by logansrun inhow did i spend my new years eve?
with a bunch of drunk jehovahs witnesses, that's how!
my best friend -- who hasn't been to a meeting in three months and has referred to isaiah books i and ii as "shit" -- has connections with the outer periphery of the organization's young folk.

This reminds me of how even though I never got into anything growing up as a witness, I was still considered less spiritual than the rebellious elder's boys...

Both me and my brother almost bust a gut when watching "The Search for the Holy Grail", especially at the part with the killer rabbit.

SEX: As a JW, Were you ever thisclose to having sex and then chickened out?
by Funchback inas a jw, were you ever thisclose to having sex and then chickened out?
being raised (since the age of 7) as a jw, i grew up very frustrated sexually.
everything about sex carried a heavy burden of guilt.

Well, I never had any sexual encounters, but would always get uncomfortable whenever non-JWs would show interest in me, or even ask if I was available. I always had to come up with stupid excuses like I wasn't looking for a girlfriend at the moment, or was interested in someone else.
Interestingly enough, it was always the "worldly" girls who seemed to like me. The dub girls either weren't interested in a brother from a spiritually weak family, or perhaps thought it wrong to show any direct interest at all in boys due to their strict parents.

Curiousity about current JW Views on going into churches
by Brymichmom ini've been following a thread on another forum where jw's are insisting that it is ok for them to go inside churches for weddings, funerals, etc.
they say it's quite ok to go inside any church just as long as they don't participate in the service by singing, praying, kneeling...etc...some of them say that they have seen "guest speakers" in churches who came as watchtower representatives.
when did this ever change?

I don't know about other congregations, but in mine people generally don't worry about whether or not someone goes to a wedding or funeral in another church. Once, in idle conversation I mentioned to an elder that I had gone to my uncle's wedding. He looked like he didn't agree with my actions, but didn't say anything.

How old is your "soul"?
by obiwan ini think i have mentioned this before, but i'm curious.
my girlfriend and i had a discussion with some friends about how old they felt thier souls were.
for myself, i have the feeling with alot of things in life that i have done them before.

I was pondering over the Buddhist concept of anatman, and realized that it might not be so much that we have an eternal soul as it is that we are "part" of a soul. The soul manifests itself in different reincarnations, all of which occur in the eternal now (from the soul's perspective). After we die, our memories and sense of self are copied into the soul in the same manner that a computer program might gain new information from the characters in a virtual game or world. It is only for a certain period of time that this higher astral consciousness maintains the illusion of being a separate self, because nothing is truly separate from anything else.

Ted Jaracz is the end of the watchtower, and we must expose his vile ways however we can if that end is to be speed up.
