Which church?
by faundy ini don't feel comfortable living as an atheist.
i believe the world is far to complex and humans are too incredible to have just occurred.
therefore, if i was to attend a church, which one should i consider?

Hi Faundy.
What exactly about church are you seeking? A spiritual growing place or a socialising with like minds place or something else?
How would you feel about taking a yoga class? Tai chi? Meditation? Going to a large catherdral during the day when its mostly empty might feel nice, but so would going to a park and whatching kids play, squirels jump around, birds flit about. Are there Japanese or other formal gardens where you are at? Go check out a medical herb garden, or an Elizabethan or other time period garden.
I don't get out in nature as much as I like to lately, but nature is my thing. What's yours? Museums of history or art? Or just sitting in a transit terminal people whatching?
How about create your own church, just for you? The yoga or meditation class would help with that. Look inside yourself, whether you know it or not, you have everything you need already there, you just need to explore it-reawaken it.

Circuit Assembly This Weekend
by united states of nothing inwell, i went this weekend and there were a few key points that i thought were pretty interesting.
one thing is that we are not to use the word 'society' any longer.
i don't know if anybody else has heard of this before but i wondered what the reason was behind it.

Why you still go on Field Service? Why Elders posts on JWD?
by tooktheredpill inthis morning, a poster asked me why i still go on field service:.
just wondering if your conscience bothers you that you are continuing to "spread the jw gospel"?
do you have plans to stop fs soon?

I say its your life, you do what you have to do for your family or friends. Try not to get too many strangers hooked and baptized, but other than that, who cares what people not in your shoes say.
It is interesting I think to see how many elders and MS and active JW there are here. If I'd have known enough to google the WTS when I was still in, it might have helped me grow a pair and have some fun with still being in and being free of the beliefs.

My mom was first contacted when we lived in Arizona in the very early 80's. The hall was in Eager-Springerville. Very tiny hall with a wood stove.
Then we were in wisconsin, close to Menomonie.
When we moved to Seattle, actually Renton, we went to the Cascade/Spring Glenn hall.
Went to covington a few meetings when we moved there.
Went to one memorial in Moses Lake, my mom went to a few other meetings.

I see where you are coming from now, in your language there are gender indicators. Sure, we have pronouns in english, but in German and I think even in Swedish, the gender of the subject modifies the noun or verb or both. Describing how language works confuses me. Where's Leolaia? I think she could explain this better. From what little I know of written chinese, there are no pronouns that denote gender, so how you tell if you're writing about a female or male I haven't a clue.

Thankfully, I live in a gated apartment complex, so no JWs. My mom however lives about 3-4 blocks from the last hall that she attended. I'm a little worried for her now, my nephew lives with her and she is doing the holidays for him. I think if she gets caught, the whole JC thing could really hurt her. She's not online reading here, so she really is not prepared. But that's all moot, because so far nothing has happened.

the last cologn/perfume I used was Aspen. It was a gift. I have sensitive skin and don't like 99% of the sythetics that are in our shampoos, detergents and body scents. I do use pure undiluted essential oils, today I wore pennyroyal and bergamont. I wear patchouli and like to blend that with spices or citruses. I also wear carrot seed EO and mix things depending on my mood and where I'm headed.
I like woodsy earthy smells, tree resins, herbs, some floral, spices, citrus.
My partner wears sandalwood and patchouli, mostly sandalwood though. Sometimes he adds a little vanilla to that (its VERY exspensive).
For really sexy smells, take a floral scent, say Rose or Ylang, and then add a spice or two or three but in very small amounts-say black pepper, clove or nutmeg...OMG! And ladies, that works with straight guys too. Clary sage is used for womens hormonal issues, but also to enhance dreams while sleeping. For me it is also an aphrodesiac. To me it just smells like dried raspberrys and raspberry plants, I don't know why but it just makes me gggrrrrr.

I've been diagnosed as being uni-polar, I have the lows but not the highs. And dysthymia (spelling???).
Anyway, how old is your kid? Coming from my history of once being severly overmedicated by Dr. I'm now very anti meds-for me. I am not anti meds for other people as that's their choice. I think that modern medicine likes to throw around labels and try to fix things with pills, but I also totally acept that there are people with real problems. Where on that line your son is, is for you and him to figure out. My recomendation would be to keep researching and seeking solutions, as any one problem or answer is likely not the only one.
With Bi-polar, if you do treat with meds, I think that that treatment can be even more successfull combined with therapy. Some people have found some relief with meditation, but that is not a single solution.
Does your child have other issues or diagnoses that compound or cloud the situation?
Alot of people are going to flat out disagree with me, and that is their choice, I just believe that there are more than one answer that can be valid.
Best of wishes.

I have a theory. Please take my poll!
by changeling ini'd like you all to tell me 2 or 3 things:.
1- were you raised a witness or not?.
2-if you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?.
-
darkuncle29
1- Were you raised a witness or not?
2-If you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?
3- Where do you stand on religion now? Christian, pagan, atheist/agnostic, undecided...
1. mom caught the truuf when I was 6, 1981. So to this point we had holidays/B-days.
2. She studdied with the PO's daughter, also an Elder's wife. They were former bethel couple, did pionere and circuit work. Last name Lovinger (sp??) We had spotless meeting attendance and even as newbies we sat in the front row. My dad was not too enthused about the JW, but he went along with it for her. She had four little kids. The JWs were impressed with how us kids behaved ourselves, sitting right in the front row. Then divided house, blah blah, dad DF. As a teen my friends were pioners and MS. I'm proud of the fact that I never pionered.
3. I'm Taoist with pagan leanings, partner is Wiccan. Family out of borg, mom still mourns for JW lifestyle.
So, what's your theory?
