  Online judgementalism

  in my year and a half as a member of a couple ex-jw forums i have seen what i perceive to be a massive error on both my part and the part of others.

  the mistake is this: judgeing someone simply from their on-line personality and statements.

  i see it time and time again.

  I think people who correct their formatting within 3 minutes of posting are very, very devious.

  I'm in trouble. Most of my posts are edited immediately. I proof what I type but never catch an error until it posts and then leaving it drives me crazy.. (ok I'm a little anal)

  any way, my comment after meeting a number of people (talking 3 digits) in person after getting to know them online is that there are some who are exactly as you expect them to be. Others are so different that you can't believe it is almost the same person. Sometimes those shy in crowds (ie. introverted) are not so when posting and some who post sometimes unthoughtful or rude comments you might think is not a very nice person, ends up to be very nice indeed. That's why I try hard not to overly judge harshly anyone just from their comments on here.

  MY SON HAD APPENDICITIS.........

  tuesday was a rough, tough day for my son, bryce,(19 yrs old).

  not to mention us parents.

  he was in bad shape folks.

  I'm glad to hear that your son is ok. My son had that surgery a couple years ago and I remember how scary it was. At the time I was a JW though and so some did come to the hospital. Now if that happened things would be different. When I ended up in the hospital, I didn't even tell anyone. My mom who lives far away was upset I didn't call my cong. I don't want anything to do with my elders, let alone call them when in the hospital.

  I'm glad you were able to pray and feel good about it. I'm not there yet. Haven't figured out if I feel worthy yet or who to address the prayer to. Hopefully before a serious incident like this comes up, I'll have found my way. I'm glad you have found yours.

  An Elder Visited Me Today At Work

  a very nice elder came by to invite me to the circuit overseer's visit, which will be next week.

  i was told that i was very missed by him and many others and he got teary eyed.

  i told him that i truly appreciated his concern and always liked him as a fine person.

  I remember one of the elder's wives when I moved telling me how they missed me so much and I responded by saying "why? you didn't noticed I was there when I was" Her mouth literally dropped.

  I'm not sure if it is easier if they are nice to us or if it is the opposite. When someone is spiteful or mean, then they are easy to stay away from but when they are kind and act teary eyed, it can be harder to dismiss.

  What was the first "Bad" CD/Record/Tape you ever bought?

  i was looking on the thread on music when i just thought to ask that question.

  for me, it was gwar's violence has arrived.

  i remember loving that band so much when i first heard of them to the point where i downloaded everything they had, from album mp3's to rare bootlegs.

  I remember that too. My ex husband and I got rid of our Kansas, Led Zep, Fleetwood Mac albums because we heard there was accult worship involved. I have since purchased Kansas and Fleetwood Mac to my collection.

  I guess when I started buying Hip Hop, Ja Rule being my first cd to purchase. It was too much hassle to find and buy the 'clean' versions so I bought whatever. The first time I played Nelly Country Grammar when a friend (a JW) was over. She said "what are you listening too????"

  went to the show for cheap night and it cost more for the damn junk food..no one could decide on either one or the other so we bought both...your opinon?
