so we all know that "crazy" brother or sister.
every kingdom hall has one.
they give the best comments (from a hilarious perspective), have experiences with the "demons", but most importantly, they are on about 10 deifferent kinds of medications.
My personal favorite demon story comes from the historical accounts of Clayton Woodworth, the man who co-authored The Finished Mystery with George Fisher. Both men were textbook writers for the International Correspondence Schools.
Woodworth claimed to have been under demonic control at one time and declared such at a convention in 1913.

imagine three single sisters who qualified to be appointed as elders in the congregation.
they qualified because they started reaching out in their early teens.
persistently and methodically they worked their way through the ranks by pioneering then becoming a m.s.
OrphanCrow:
Women are also sexual predators.
You are absolutely right. And I am sure that to the Mama Bear, it doesn't matter if it was a woman or a man who raped her child.
Religious doctrine that teaches perverted sexual repression will affect both sexes - however, the majority of sexual predators are male. Not all....just the majority.
The difference lies in giving the victims voice and within the JW religion, the women have no voice and no real power. The JW individual is never given the tools to develop the ability to understand the concept of consent and that goes for both the victim and the perpetrator of abuse.
As long as there exists an imbalance of power within the JW community, you will continue to see sexual crimes that exploit that imbalance of power.

Women elders? OK until the nepotism for their own children raises it's head and then watch'em squeal.
Exactly. Imagine what a Mama Bear Elder would do if her cubs were raped.
Give the women a voice and some authority and see how child abuse is handled then.

DJS: OC: "Yeah...and I bet none of those responses have anything at all to do with Heaven's most powerful tool of all - her mind."
Correct.
I know. Men who are raised in sexually repressive cultures are so predictable. Sigh.
They overlook women's most valuable asset - her mind. DJS, you are a perfect example as to why women are leaving patriarchal religions. Women are tired of the old adage that women are for sex only.

Patriarchy is the backbone of almost all religion. Elimination of patriarchy would result in a significant reduction in religious influence. It is no surprise that the countries that have the most egalitarian societies have the least religious people in them. Those people don't need religion - they are already self-empowered because their society treats them fairly.
DJS: Thanks Heaven: "I do love power tools!"
I have about six different responses to your comments, none of which I can use on this site!
Yeah...and I bet none of those responses have anything at all to do with Heaven's most powerful tool of all - her mind.

sparrowdown: When is everyone going to get it. It would make no difference what gender the elders were.....they would still have to enforce the same rules and represent the same org.
I disagree, Sparrow. The rules would not be the same.
As it stands now, the rules are misogynistic to the extreme and promote the hatred and disrespect of women.
If women were 'allowed' to be elders, the rules would be different. The rules would be changed such that women would have a voice and personal autonomy. And with that change, would be a reduction in the numbers of child abuse and sexual assault that currently run rampant inside of the organization.
As it stands now, it is not just the women who are being disadvantaged, it is also the men, who develop ignorant and abusive tactics to bolster their own feelings of sexual inadequacy, that are victimized as well. Without a healthy understanding of sexuality, men resort to immature and inappropriate displays of sexual frustration.
If women were elders, it would change the whole structure of the organization - a structure that in its current form fosters the sexual exploitation of women.
I say "yes" - make women elders. And watch the rate of child sexual abuse drop. It is the lack of respect for women and children, combined with the sense of entitlement given to the men, that is responsible for the high rate of sexual abuse within the organization. The men are taught that women don't have the right to say no - women are seen as not having the right of consent and by extension, children have no rights, either.
As long as women have no voice within the JWs, child sex abuse will continue to run rampant within the organization. It is the WTS' misogynistic attitudes that are primarily responsible for the women and children being subjected to abuse.
there are many on here who state specific changes in wt publications have caused them to start questioning (understandably you would think), and yet the majority don't.
why is it only a few individuals that do this?
curious as to what others think about this.
stillin: There is some sort of self-affirming in being able to say, "what WE used to think was...but now WE believe this new way."
Yes, it is the illusion of self-revelation when it isn't that at all - it is a deceptive practice by the WTS to give the individual the illusion of intelligence and a false sense of power.
it is astounding that someone like this creationist can have no appreciation for the scientific significance of his discovery.

Alberta Creationist discovers rare fish fossils in basement dig (full article and video)
"An Alberta man who discovered a school of rare fossilized fish while digging up a Calgary basement believes the world was created by God a few thousand years ago.
It's for that reason Edgar Nernberg doesn't think the fossils could possibly be as old as paleontologists are estimating.
"I subscribe to the creationist position, and I believe they were laid down in Noah's flood, about 4,500 years ago. But we agree to disagree."
Creationist Edgar Nernberg believes the fossilized fish he found died around 4,500 years ago, when Noah built his ark and God flooded the Earth.
He's referring to Darla Zelenitsky, the University of Calgary paleontologist who was brought in to examine the five ancient fish.
She says they likely swam in waters about 60 million years ago, which is the age of the Paskapoo Formation, a sheet of rock that lies under the city.
"I would give it a 10 out of 10 for significance," said Zelenitsky.
"There's not very many complete fossils known in rocks of this age in Alberta," she said about the fish, which are each about the size of a wallet."
would you do a ray franz deal and write a book or keep quiet and live out the rest of your life in bethel?.
would you keep reading the watchtower magazine?.
What would I do?
Well, you know that prank where you put dog shit in a paper bag, drop it in front of a door, light the bag on fire, knock, and then run? I would do that at the door to the GB meeting room when they were having a meeting.
Then I would go and get drunk.
And in the morning I would buy a new wardrobe.
