  My Day's Long and Arduous Journey

  this, my day's long and arduous journey, is winding down as infinite night gracefully descends and takes me into her welcomed embrace.. i have no reason to fear the inevitable, my transition into a higher and more glorious estate than was allowed me upon this beautiful but angst-filled habitation.. what must be borne with calm, with dignity, with rejoicing, has been prepared for me from earliest times.

  its accomplishment requires nothing of me .

  10 february 2015. while charles manson is busy avoiding being displayed in a glass coffin by his now ex-fiancee, peter sutcliffe is managing his own mortality within the confines of broadmoor hospital.. .

  the yorkshire ripper apparently met with funeral directors to plan his own send-off.. sutcliffe, 68, contacted holmes and family funeral directors, whose office is three miles away from the high security hospital in berkshire.. he apparently wishes for the ceremony to be performed in line with his jehovahs witness beliefs.. sutcliffe was handed 20 life sentences for brutally murdering 13 women in the north of england between 1975 and 1980, and attempting to murder seven others.. police believed his killing spree started after he was conned out of money by a prostitute and her pimp.. however, sutcliffe later claimed the voice of god had commanded him to undertake the killings.. the independent (lots of photos of broadmoor psychiatric prison).

  You know, I now see the appeal that the JWs had for him.

  That fucking bastard. He loves the idea of living forever on THIS world. Being resurrected in a real, physical body. He wants to come back here so he can do it again. He likes the idea of staying here. So many victims all over again.

  He doesn't want to go to heaven. He plans to come back for the Great Tribulation.

  That bastard.

  And the Jehovah's Witnesses gave him that promise.

  i live in relatively small seaside community (regional population around 45,000).

  in my ten years here, i've had witnesses call on me perhaps twice (not special visits but during door-to-door).

  whereas they once canvassed door-to-door much more frequently - and in larger size service groups - there is quite a decline in their door-knocking - at least in this region.. with the advent of the "trolley" work, their visibility has increased - but i'd estimate only marginally.

  Huh.

  So the gist of it is that the Witnesses are now solely directing traffic to the WTS' website. That is quite a switch in roles. No interest in conversion either. Strange.

  Why this shift in direction?

  Why the emphasis on website traffic?

  A friend of mine told me that 'they' are regularly set up on campus in the city here. She thought it was strange and so out of place and somewhat creepy. Targeting the youth at universities is historically a cult-recruitment tactic that has been widely used in North America. 

  This latest shift in behavior reeks of recruitment rather than conversion.

  Starting two days ago - travel for "Chunyun" the world's largest annual festival

  chunyun - the spring festival (or, the chinese new year festival) is coming soon.

  and all over china and the chinese diaspora people are excited as they prepare for this festival.

  as prosperity has spread through china, more and more people can now afford to travel.

  at the meeting today several elders commented about the wonderful program that they attended yesterday on the new kingdom hall designs.

  they said that the new halls are going to be so beautiful with lots of windows and glass panels and that the lights will be kept on in the lobby 24/7 so that you can see into the hall at night and that thousands of these halls must be built.

  then five minutes later they are talking about how close the end is and that we will be meeting in basements in the near future.

  Startrekangel Why build new stuff if the end is so close? It was explained to us when we used our AH for the first time. This building build become educational centers for the resurrected. True story.. 

  Exactly. I don't think the notion of building KHs and buying up property is incongruous with the idea of The End is Near.

  After all, everything that is touched by the WTS is magically protected - whatever they own is seen as having Jehovah's favor. Therefore, all that 'stuff' will easily survive Armageddon and be there for the JW New Millennium.

  They believe that the day after Armageddon, the faithful JWs will emerge from the basements of the KHs all over the world, take a look around, and be blessed because Jehovah's property survived. And not only that, but all the worldly mansions and property coveted by the faithful will be preserved for them.

  It's magic. Jehovah will protect their property from destruction.

  i guess it was their way of saying: "i told you so".... i have to say their brand management, pr staff and rebranding is amazing!

  but on a more serious note (and i think what must be of concern to the gb) are the amount of leaks that must be occurring at a senior level or at least by a person who has access to sensitive information.

  village idiot: In my opinion t's best not to mention this too much because they might read it and be provoked into starting a witch hunt in Bethel.

  Village Idiot, (in my opinion) each and every word posted on this site is read by someone within the WTS 'power circle', or, at the very least, by someone appointed to do so.

  gda: it would be great if leaks at the senior level were one of the GB's. 

  • Now, there is a possibility that could be believable. Every group of people has dissenters - those who have less power than others are vulnerable to submitting to subversive tactics to get to the top of the pile. Every board of directors in the corporate world has those who are jealous and competitive for power. I don't think the GB are immune to corporate jealousy. They are only human, after all.
