Are They Trashing Our Pics Too?

i was at my parents today for the first time in a while.

i noticed that they have removed all photos of my brother and i from the walls and furniture.

we are disfellowshipped.

We used to have a photo albumn in the library at our Kingdom Hall. There were pics of our three days construction and various get togethers, etc. The wife of one of the elders was looking through it one day. She removed a photo of her former Bible student who had been disfellowshipped. I remember being very puzzled by this. I thought, "Wow, has she decided that the sister is not coming back, ever?" I thought it judgmental and negative and very sad.

This elder's wife was actually a very loving person. She removed the photo in sadness. I still thought it unecessary and extreme.

Oh the Irony!

six months ago i took a new job and have a new co-worker that i work very closely with because our duties overlap.

i have gotten to know her pretty well and although she is a very sweet person, she is extremely religious.

she is a member of a fundamentalist christian religion that has many similarities to the dubs.

Intelligent people falling for fundimentalist religions.

This world can be very scary and very stressful. Religion offers hope to escape this fear and stress. I hear people use the word addiction when speaking of JWs. I observe this in other religions, too. "Religion is the opium of the people." I believe there is a lot of truth to that statement.

I think a good bit of us need the comfort and security our parents gave us when we were very small children. I think this is one reason people get duped into fundamentalist religions.

This is just my opinion.

Have You Had Any "Blessings" Since You've Left The Truth?

One of the nicest blessings is that the world has become big, complex and beautifully mysterious again.

I love people and now the majority of them are not a danger or off limits anymore.

I get to watch TV, read books, listen to music, any kind I want and not feel the slightest bit of concern or guilt.

I can laugh at off color jokes and not worry I'm going to be struck by a giant bolt of lightening.

I have a wonderful relationship with a wonderful man who is NOT a JW. Yes, indeed, men and women can communicate and no it doesn't have to be a constant power struggle and competition between them. They can be friends and laugh, dance and sing and all sorts of groovy things without some old Bethel dudes trying to make them feel guilty or worried or ashamed.

I can tell my kids to stay far away from JWs and this thrills them. I can teach my grandson the "Now I lay me down to sleep." prayer my mamma taught me as a child.

Not worrying about saying good luck or being superstitious about the demons is wonderful.

So many blessings, so little time.

a long time jw wife left her husband, an elder, recently.

when mrs sheep told me, i asked what happened.

the black clouds of mordor rolled over the hills of the shire behind our house and i rapidly withdrew to my cave.. later, i suggested, in wide eyed innocence, that she should give her a ring as she probably needs all the friends she can get at this time.

He said Lord, you alone have sayings of everlasting life. He was speaking to Jesus, not the governing body of the WTBTS. Key words in that statement? You alone.

Scared 1. There is tons of hope for you! There are so many former JWs, me included who have faired better outside the org. I hope that your husband cares more about you than he does his JW reputation. Mine cared more about his than he did me. Now I'm happily divorced from him and he is a bitter, nasty, unhappy inactive JW man. Scroll up and read my post about the JW Stepford Wife system. It doesn't promote happy sisters or marriages. Heck, it doesn't even promote happy men.

Funny how that works isn't it? Another inactive and chronically ill JW lady's JW husband tires of her being ill and her reduced productivity in the kitchen, etc. Rather than help her out, her barrages her with threats of divorce when the kids all reach 18. Taunts her, asking if she can get welfare and foodstamps when he leaves her.Tries to control her with fear. Wonder where he got such a brilliant idea? She goes far away over the ocean to take someone home. Whilst there this JW husband ceases opportunity to strand her there and divorce her.

The outcome? He is still inactive, single, extremely bitter and incredibly unhappy; but he still swears JWs have truth. She is happier and more at peace than she ever has been, after reading Crisis Of Conscience and several exjw sites full of interesting info. She has found a wonderful worldly man who treats her far better than JW man ever did or could. The only sadness she feels is over the son that was caught in the crossfire and for now seems very lost.

Maybe, after all, there is a god.

I am under the impression that it IS much worse for women--is that the general concensus of this group?

I'm not a man but I believe that it was worse for women. We didn't have a voice in the org. We were treated like children by many of the men including our own husbands at times. The way I see it is that the org. effectively turned millions of women into Stepford Wives without using robot technology. Fear was not perfectly effective; but it was a lot cheaper and more legal than replacing wives with robots. I knew a few sisters who swore they would never marry again if their husbands should die. They preferred the prospect of lifelong loneliness to the demeaning headship arrangement.

Thankfully some of the brothers truly loved their wives and treated them with respect. They didn't have to force the headship thing because where there is true love there is no power struggle.

Mischief Idea

now normally i don't have the time or patience for the threads that suggest ideas for making mischief at jw meetings etc., but i thought about an idea that would be pretty funny.

alot of halls use wireless mikes these days.

it'd be pretty funny to get some inside information and find out what model and frequency a local kh was using and add some dialogue to an in-progress meeting from outside with your own mike... snicker when the speaker says something ridiculous, whisper "baloney" after a bald-face lie, impersonate jah and tell everyone you are very displeased and to cut the crap already...

Now THIS is a funny idea. And what is the first explanation the JWs in that hall will come up with? Hopefully DEMONIC presence! Quick everybody do a thorough search for items the demons could be attached to. Then give a talk urging people to rat out the sneaky wrongdoers who are thwarting Jah's spirit opening our little cong to demonic pranks. Meanwhile you keep up your "commentary" from outide.When the two above solutions don't work, representatives from Brooklyn will be sent to investigate. Finally they will have to board up this hall because of the demonic activity there. Then you can say, "Well done." Smile smugly and move on the next hall to do the same thing. After a while you can train others to do this. Pretty soon KHs all over the world will be boarded up.

Hey, I think you have just figured out how to bring about the demise of the WTBTS and it's worldwide org. Congratulations are in order. Hurry, get to the drawing board and set millions of people free. I can just hear the music, joy and laughter.

When your life is a hell on earth it's pretty hard to let go of the idea that any day now ALL of your problems will be solved through the destruction of this system of things at Armegeddon.

It's also hard to see the forest for the trees. It's hard to see or accept sometimes that many of these problems you have are caused directly or indirectly by being a JW.
