Cognitive Dissonance and my JW Mum!
by lurkernomore inso, my mum is a massively obedient little dub!
i knew this before showing more negativity towards the borg.
i recently fell into the trap of shooting my mouth off about all the things that i felt were wrong with the borg, after her ass kissing comments got the better of me.. my other half's grandmother has also learned ttatt over the past few months as has most of her immediate familly in fact.

I doubt very much the ordinary rank & file JW knows anything about the worldwide branch closures. Oh and don't get me started on the money made by the sale of Brooklyn properties. I read an article just a few days ago posted on the ex jw reddit page, from the Warwick observer. There it reads that from an estimated $1 billion sale price they're only reportedly looking to spend just over $11 million building the new HQ!!!! That's $989 million left over!!! mean how much more obvious can it get that it's all about the money. Yet they're still asking for money for the UK relocation programme

Inscribed Copper Plates from the Indus alley, May Push the Use of Printing back 3000 yrs.
by fulltimestudent inthese copper plates are from the indus valley civilisation, also known as the harappan civilisation.
as the study indicates:.
the settled life in the indian subcontinent started, as is evident at mehrgarh in baluchistan (jarrige, et al., 1995), around 7000 bc and there has been gradual growth in the cultures culminating into the formation of the harappan culture starting around 4000 bc.. .

Farewell cruel world of JWs
by sparrowdown inimo the most exciting thing you will ever do in "the truth" is to leave !.
that's right, no website or rc nu-lite or service meeting letter compares.
to the adrenaline rush of waking up, planning your strategic withdrawal,.

Funny you should mention this. In my recent conversation with my mother she did a complete U-turn and admitted that what was taught at times was wrong. She didn't even deny the 1975 blunder when i brought it up this time. Obviously this was put down to 'New Light'.
This subject always makes me a little irrate so i said to her that:
'Right you believe the GB are not infalliable! She agreed. Yet again and again they have openly referred to themselves as 'God's mouthpiece'. If this is the case then they should'nt be getting things wrong because it's as if Jehovah himself has spoken.' Apparently if we were revealed everything in one go we couldn't handle it, that was her honest reply. At this point I and my wife just chuckled at how ridiculous it all is and ended that discussion by saying there was no point in discussing my views on this if she is not able to see it from my point of view, as it would simply end in a circular discussion.
Even if we can get highly indoctrinated ones to see that the JW religion has made mistakes, which a most won't (at least not openly) they will always have an excuse to reason away any doubt. I believe an individual has to be at a certain point in life or come accross a massive spiritual hurdle in order to effectively see TTATT. Lucky for me i was already somewhat 'weak' as a JW for various reasons but still this is all i've ever known in 28 years, so to go from that to seeing it's all utter BS in under 3 months is incredible.
But more to your point Yadda, i do feel that the leaders of this cult need to be the ones to admit to their mistakes, as it's their decisions and teachings that affect millions of lives across the globe.

Has anyone else heard this about the GB??
by FeelingFree inok so me and my husband were talking to his mum again about why we are no longer going to meetings and got into another pointless discussion where she feels he needs to talk to an elder about his issue's blah, blah, blah... round and round it went...... the thing i wanted to ask was if anybody had heard that there wont be any gb after these one's die??
this is something she mentioned today and we have never heard of this ever.
so it means no more will be appointed and they will just die off!

Whatever the case i don't see 'Paradise' when i get told to be subservient to other men, which their obviously trying to tout as something that's going to happen if their BS were ever to come about. Sounds more like HELL!!!

It just sounded so out there that there must have been an explanation for it. That makes sense sir82. I'm surprised she didn't go into the overlap bs to be honest in order to back up her claim
