by truthlover inon tonight -- many of the leaders and co horts of david miscavidge on tonight who have left the organization.. it is scary how close they are to the jw's with the exception of the volcano episode and that we are "thetans",.... they hold out a carrot for each level of progression on the "ladder" - to immortality, telling all they will live forever in a peaceful, beautiful world- and of course, each step on the ladder means thousands of dollars and volunteers make 30 cents a day working on all their projects.
they fought for tax exemption as a religious organization, started by hubbard, who at level 8- the highest on the ladder - tells his thetans they are out of a spaced out world -- it is terrifying -- and they are supposed to be able to read minds, levitate things, others in the org are scared of them.... but the org are buying properties all over the world as a benefit for their thetahs" to show their good works.to the irs - building a massive real estate empire with publishing and volunteer labour...... watch it if you can.... .

New Field Service Format?
by jw07 init seems that hype is the only thing keeping jw.org alive and well these days (that and the money of suckers who continue to fall for it).. at meeting on monday, an elder announced "the faithful slave has seen it fit to change the format of our ministry in 2016, and more information will come".
i guess the desired reaction is to get jws preoccupied with what those changes could possibly be, and if it means that the end is nearer or some crap.. with that said, i've been suckered into wanting to know what these 'changes' will be.
does anyone know?

I have doubts... can you help me??- A new idea
by HowTheBibleWasCreated ini have been perplexed as to how to brung my wife out of jws and to exit the religion... but i had an idea last night.
i know that elders will legitimantly meet with brothers who have doubts and encourage them... not df them .. this is a sheperding call etc.. thus since my wife knows i have doubt s i could say: i want to have two brother over to discuss this ... she will agree.... of course i will hit these guys with biblical textual issues, an biology to where they are stunned and still ask... "so brothers... can you solve this conflict...?".
in this case they will not think of me as an apostate but may question their own beliefs... .

The Pain of Coming to a Decision

ten years ago i first came here all in turmoil over my disillusionment of my beliefs.
i've been through lots of ups and downs since then.

Thanks for the post.
I was very captivated. My situation is also terrible.My wife finally told me that she will always be a JW no matter what she see, hears or learns.
Gut punch. I feel like I have given up.
We've hardly spoken for days. I'm super depressed.It's madness that this ridiculous group has hurt so many and goes on hurting.

Being positively recognized
by menrov inhi, for over a year, i stopped attending meeting and field service.
actually, passively disassociated from the congregation.
but i did not stop reading and doing my own research.

I have also lost 75 pounds and have many enjoyable pursuits and interests.

the very last time i went out in field service, hardly any were out.
maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

Basic Principles for Forum Moderation
by Simon ina perennial issue for any online forum is moderation and applying rules.
we have a set of community guidelines and posting guidelines that are intended to make clear what is and isn't acceptable but this tends to focus on the obvious standards of behavior for, well, obvious reasons.
it's easy to talk about people being aggressive or insulting etc... as those are common and clearly unwanted behaviors and the typical issue for online communities - the most likely things to come up.. does this mean that everything *not* on the list is allowed?
