i have often wondered if there is more harm done to people who are stifled or smothered from expressing their natural conduct, feelings or actions because of it being condemned by religious ideals?.
so if a person keeps suppressing their real personality and tries to mould themselves to the "perfect" or "ideal" version as expected from those controlling them, could they eventually "bust" so to speak?.
for instance, witnesses condemn many forms of entertainment.

is directly related to keeping my doubts and guilt inside.
My wife and I are getting to a point in our relationship where we can discuss any topic, but the three years prior as I was awakening have taken a hard toll on me. Not to mention the 20 years prior that I was indoctrinating myself.
This week has been the worst of my life. I sure hope I'm healing.

i'm about half-way through the novel "watch how we walk," written in 2013 by a born-in, jennifer lovegrove.. absolutely worthwhile read.. does this paragraph sum up jw-land?.

although i was alone, it reminded me of being at the kingdom hall.
I was in a hall where we experienced multiple DF/reproofs for six weeks in a row!!
It was really something.
i learned this past week that my wife is now awake.
i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".
she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.
judicial committee invitation comes, with be there or be square consequences.. ( come or we will df you ).
what are the sure fire, tested and true tactics that will keep the elders off your back?

back in the day, when my family moved to a new congregation, i fell head over heels with a young sister who was an elder's daughter.
it wasn't long before we were talking about marriage and i was contemplating buying her an engagement ring.

one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.
When I was pretty new, 1990?, a young woman in our hall drove off to rmote location and shot herself in the gut with a shotgun. Her name was Laura. This was Fairfield, CA.
A JW relative of mine has tried many times by cutting, even successfully smuggling razors into the mental institute. Possible that being raped at Bethel may have had someting to do with this. If she lives past 50 it will be borderline miraculous as the prescription drugs she is on have trashed her organs.
I know many JWs that have admitted suicidal thoughts.
To be honest, I would venture to guess that *everyone* has pondered the thought or are not honest with themselves.
ok, so i politely let an elder in our cong know how i felt about the gossip and slander that has been levelled at me.. he has been pushing to find out how i feel about the events of the last few months.. i calmly replied: .
"well, i know that it was foretold that oppressive wolves would enter the flock and treat many harshly.
i stood up to such harshness against many in our cong, then i was turned on and had accusations levelled against me!
