JW Disfellowshipping vs. Amish Meidung vs. Bahá'í Covenant-Breaking
by SonoftheTrinity insaw an interesting short documentary about a woman who was a born covenant-breaker (which is baha'i for disfellowshipped) because she is the great-granddaughter of baha'ullah whose grandfather disagreed with the leadership, as well as the command that no baha'is should live in israel unless they are working for the universal house of justice (their bethel).
i also read somewhere that shunning in many amish communities has been watered down to having to eat outside at weddings and other communal events.
the more comparisons are drawn between jehovah's witnesses and so called false religions, the less they can claim to be the only true religion.

Do Dubbers hate the internet?
by dogon inor at least fear it?
i know many of the young seem to be on it, but i also know many of the old dubbers seem to distrust it and think it leads to bad outcomes.
how many dubbers that are old that are dark on the web while their kids are all over it.

I believe many are fearful of the internet, yes.
Just as many were likely fearful of electricity, the phone, radio and television in times past.
It may be a fear of technology, actually. -

How to get my kids out
by SaneAgain ini've been disfellowshipped for about 5 years and extremely happy to be out.
my ex wife is still a regular meeting attender and takes our two young kids with her (8 and 6 years old).
i recently saw some of the caleb and sophia videos on the jw.org website and was completely appalled, i remember what i was taught as a kid growing up in the organization but this seems so much worse and now that i'm out i can plainly see the mind control.

Recorded judicial committee hearings
by Bamidbar ini believe that the best way to inoculate any friend or relative of yours from becoming more deeply involved in the watchtower is exposure to recordings of the judicial process.. that goes for those already in the watchtower---if you can get them to listen.. what in your opinion are the best available online?.
i recommend several.
i am writing this off the cuff and do not have all the exact links, but you should find them easily.. anondud2 - on youtube.

Recorded meetings have, by far, been the most helpful in my escape.
I enjoy them very much.
This series changed my life:

Splane's Anti Catholic Rant

Especially since very little of what JW's taught and believed during WWII is relevant to anyone alive today. Funny, huh?

Tight Pants Tony's wife wore a Sophia & Caleb Badge out Witnessing
by Listener inin the february jw broadcasting they show anthony morris the iii out witnessing with his wife during a convention.
she is wearing the convention badge and also a badge with sophia & caleb on it.
i find it very amusing and she is not even a grandmother even though they like to portray am as a grandfather.. here's what their 1990 w 12/1 says about movie stars.

Over 96% Accept 99%!
by Marvin Shilmer intoday i added a new article to my blog that shares a bit of astounding evidence of just how ridiculous it is for a jw to tell anyone anywhere that jws abstain from transfusion of blood, and plasma in particular.
this article is based on two studies authored by medical staff at duke university's center for blood conservation, a program that is heavily touted by the active "noblood" crowd among jws.
one of these studies contains a real whopper of a piece of information!

I will read the article later, but I just wanted to add something from my personal experience.
In a chance encounter, I ended up visiting with one of the leading medical advocates for bloddless surgery in California's SF Bay Area. They actually had billboards advertising the medical center on the main route to the Cow Palace, where JW conventions have been held for decades.
I recently spoke to him again and told him I had left. He was happy about that.
I asked him about blood. "When was the last time whole blood was administered"? He told me WWII era. ( wow ). Whole blood is never given anymore.
Then I asked if the only treatments given are "fractions"? He said yes.
So, bottom line, JWs "abstain from blood", but somehow firm up their consciences to allow them to accept the most up to date methods of transfusions to preserve life while accepting someone else's blood. Hypocrisy?

I was fresh out of high school when I started "witnessing" to my friends. ( 18 years old. 1986 )
Thankfully none of them followed me in to the Org. I have started looking for my old friends. Many are accepting.
After 29 years, it's nice to know that old friends and family are understanding of the dangers of mind control. I usually start with "I recently escaped from a mind control cult". That puts them at ease that I won't be "witnessing" to them any more. It's also an admission of my own mistakes.
