And here is the first powered flight on Mars.
Ingenuity took off, ascended to 5 m above the Martian surface, then flew a few metres and back, all done 130 million miles away.
Pretty neat, huh …
perseverance rover has been on mars for a few weeks.
its mission is mainly to analyse martian soil and search for signs of extinct life.. also, perseverance is the first martian explorer vehicle fitted with a microphone, so audio recordings of sounds on mars can be beamed back to earth and heard by us.. these sounds that you can hear in the video are happening nearly 35 million miles away.. pretty awesome, i gotta say ….

now that there are no meetings to physically attend, i am in a position where i listen in to my wife's zoom calls.
i thought some of the ideas in last week's clam were a bit strange, for instance they harped on about being 'friendly' to non-jws but not to become 'friends' with them.
the poignant question being put to the audience; 'what is the difference between being friendly to an unbeliever and being his friend?'.
I thought some of the ideas in last week's CLAM were a bit strange, for instance they harped on about being 'friendly' to non-JWs but not to become 'friends' with them - cults play word games.
Kinda like when JWs say they have no leaders, only 'ones taking the lead'.
anyone following the derek chauvin trial?.
if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.
there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?
remember when caitlyn jenner came out as a trans woman a few years ago?.
it was stunning and brave, i'm sure you'll agree.. well, a good portion of her congratulators are now dreading the prospect of jenner becoming california governor.. you see, jenner is a republican, and has come out and said that trans women competing in women's sports is unfair (which is correct and a breath of fresh air).. so now trans people and their allies are getting ready with the smelling salts in case transwoman caitlyn jenner wins the race.

And she's standing firm on her common-sense stance.

Well done, Jenner.
the president of the united states says we have to do something about this.
many politicians and people agree that we are all affected by the scourge of systemic racism.
what’s your view of this?
Thomas Sowell - I could listen to that guy all day. Dude's an absolute legend.
A sane voice in a crazy world.
as if the chinese haven't already done enough to the world recently, they have now let a 22 ton rocket go out of control and start falling to earth.
it's going 18,000 miles an hour and no one knows where it's going to hit but if it isn't water then it might leave a scuff mark.. the good news it is shouldn't be canada, as we're too far north.. the bad news is, well ... are you in canada or the same latitude or more north?.
chances are it will hit the pacific, but it's 2021 and the way things are going it could hit a major population area.. if it does hit anywhere with lots of people, i hope it twats the shit out of beijing..
It will be interesting to see how the media report on the aftermath of this, especially if the rocket does hit land.

^^^ ridiculous and hilarious at the same time.
some say we will never get back to pre-pandemic days.
others say we should expect to live with masks and social distancing as the “new normal “.
still others are hopeful that we can live life realizing there might never be an end to covid or cancer or influenza but our lives must continue to go on.
Will You Get Back To Normal After Covid Subsides? - yes.
Society has to return to normal once all the vulnerable people have been vaccinated.
E.g. in the UK, lockdown will officially end on June 21. If Boris Johnson is stupid enough to insist on continuing restrictions, there'll be mass civil disobedience. People will just say f**k it and not bother with masks or the 2m rule.

many politicians and people agree that we are all affected by the scourge of systemic racism.
what’s your view of this?
Everything should be based purely on the same qualification rules for something, skin color should not count for or against anyone when it comes to entitlement or punishment.
Anything else is systemic racism - yes.
We, in western, multicultural and multiracial countries, are having a bit of a problem.
Race hustlers like Al Sharpton or David Lammy note racial disparity in certain fields (e.g. company board members, people in prison, etc.) and immediately conclude that this means racial discrimination, hence, 'systemic racism'. But this is intellectually dishonest because they're ignoring all the actual factors - racism is just one of those factors. Other - often more important - factors are cultural differences and family structure, not to mention just freedom of choice.
Individual identity is greater than group identity. It has to be, otherwise society will degenerate into tribal violence.
Positive discrimination, like the example Simon just gave, is society going down the systemic racism route.
We have to just start seeing people as individuals and treating them accordingly.

what’s your view of this?
Tough questions to contemplate for some people - some people will consider those kind of questions … others will ignore them and say the US is 'systemically racist', lol.
