How come the old boys on the GB don't get kicked out at 70?
by eyeslice init would appear that circuit overseers (no dos these days i guess) are taken off at 70 years old.
even older ones in bethels are disposed (sorry 're-assigned to the field) of before they get too past it.. how come though the old boys on the gb aren't shown the door at 70 and replaced by younger men - obviously of the recently anointed type?
they don't look a particularly fit bunch so they can't claim special mightiness because of doing 'the lord's work'.

You cannot get a general arts degree in two years in the UK. Diploma, yes. Not a degree - yes, a bachelor's degree in the UK typically lasts for three years (assuming the student actually passes the exams on time and graduates, lol).
It could be possible that Lloyd did some kind of national diploma or foundation degree - I'm not sure how long these last for. My nat. dip. lasted 2 years and was equivalent to three A-levels. Foundation degrees can act as another pathway to a bachelor's, from what I remember ...

Japan issues guidelines on abuse of children of religious group followers
by Bartolomeo injapan's welfare ministry has issued a set of guidelines to municipalities on how to deal with cases of abuse involving the offspring of religious group followers, including those of the group widely known as the unification church.. the ministry has already called on schools and child consultation centers not to hesitate to help children because of reasons connected with religion.
in the latest notice, the ministry listed specific examples.. forcing children to take part in religious activities by saying they would otherwise go to hell is considered psychological abuse.
forbidding for religious reasons all forms of leisure, such as reading manga or playing video games, is another example.. forcing children to attend religious activities late at night is considered physical abuse.

Totally agree with bluesbrother.
Children obviously need protection from religious extremism but classing parents stopping their own kids from reading manga as abuse is madness.
The government of Japan no doubt means well but it can fuck off

Avatar 2: The Blue Space Monkeys Learn To Swim (spoilers ahead)
by LoveUniHateExams ini saw jim cameron's avatar sequel last week.. right off the bat re the avatar franchise, i believe that there are two types of viewers.. firstly, there are the fans.
the people who see the pretty visuals and immediately conclude that avatar is the greatest film franchise of all time.. then there are the rest of us - people who can appreciate the world-building and stunning visuals but do not use them to cover over the flaws, more of which later.. the plot - jake sully, neytiri and their children have to leave their idyllic arboreal existence and seek refuge among a green-skinned tribe which lives a semi-aquatic lifestyle.. bad guy quaritch is back ... in avatar form.
that's some great imagination - nice one, jim.. so the humans are back because the earth is dead.

Seriously??? Oh, gawd - yeah, no bullshit.
I've also heard a rumour repeated by several youtube film reviewers that Avatar-body Quaritch will feature in sequels 3,4 and 5

So. I saw Jim Cameron's Avatar sequel last week.
Right off the bat re the Avatar franchise, I believe that there are two types of viewers.
Firstly, there are the fans. The people who see the pretty visuals and immediately conclude that Avatar is the greatest film franchise of all time.
Then there are the rest of us - people who can appreciate the world-building and stunning visuals but do not use them to cover over the flaws, more of which later.
The plot - Jake Sully, Neytiri and their children have to leave their idyllic arboreal existence and seek refuge among a green-skinned tribe which lives a semi-aquatic lifestyle.
Bad guy Quaritch is back ... in Avatar form.
*slow handclap*
That's some great imagination - nice one, Jim.
So the humans are back because the Earth is dead. This time they're after a substance from Pandora's native whale-type creatures.
There is a final battle and Jake and his family live happily ever after.
There is so much wrong with this film.
First off. the plot is basically a retread of the first film, if you switch Unobtainium for the life-prolonging whale jizz, and put Quaritch and his gang of redneck f**ktards back into human bodies.
The dialogue is atrocious in places. I know that with these kinds of visual films. the plot and dialogue are not the most important aspects, but still(!).
The characters are rather bland and forgettable. I couldn't get invested in Jake and Neytiri, let alone the new characters. In short, I didn't really care what happened to them.
And was it really a great idea to have the whale creatures as talking beings who can chat to the Navi? That was f**king ridiculous.
Avatar: The Way of Water is basically what happens when a director has total control, an enormous budget, and no one to drown out the yes-men.
How would I rate this film?
Meh - 4 or 5 out of 10.
My mate streamed it but maybe it's best to see it at the cinema.

I think Lloyd maybe fails to appreciate the general feelings of his target audience.
Ex-dubs and athiests have a moral code and ideas about right and wrong, whereas Lloyd seems to do whatever he wants.
Obviously, most men don't cheat on their wives with prostitutes.
And then there's people like Lloyd

@Earnest - if an asylum seeker pays a smuggler for a seat on a dinghy then said asylum seeker has funded crime and crossed the channel illegally. There are both legal and illegal routes into a country.
