let's not have her as a reason to throw the doors open to illegal fighting age men arriving on the beaches - I quite agree.
Raducanu is an example of good immigration - her parents came here legally, got good jobs, obey the law and pay their taxes. They brought up a talented, well-adjusted daughter who now has a stellar career ahead of her.
There is simply no comparison between the Raducanus and the morons in the rubber dinghies who wash ashore at Dover or Folkstone.

1995 generation change
by Gorb innow, many years later, i remember the 1995 generation change, very well.. since early youth, hearing my father explaining in field service the 2520 years.
it was his main theme in the field.. with the change my doubts started.
with some jw friends we did not trust the organization anymore.

Yep, the 1995 generation change first started me doubting.
The way the governing body just painted themselves into a corner then walked out the room, getting paint everywhere on the carpet.
Bastards!

And Raducanu triumphed 6-4, 6-3. Her achievement is pretty much unprecedented. She is the only tennis player of the Open era, male or female, to qualify for a slam and then go on and win that slam. She won 10 matches in a row, without dropping a single set. That's pretty f**king awesome, excuse my French.
I'd like to see how she deals with expectation in next year's US Open, but she seems to have a sensible head on her shoulders so I expect her to compete in future grand slam finals.
She will in all likelihood be around for many years to come.
She could be the future of women's tennis.

BTW Anna Maria - listen to the way she pronounces falafel. It's not too difficult.

What do you think about Nehemia Gordon theory regarding "Yehovah" as God's name pronunciation that never got completely lost?
by psyco innehemia gordon, in his book "shattering the conspiracy of silence", argues that "yehovah" is god's name pronunciation and it has never got completely lost, giving a linguistic explanation.
what do you think about that?.

If God exists, what would be a good reason why he never communicates or helps his creation by intervention?
by pistolpete inyou have probably heard all kinds of excuses why god doesn’t communicates with his creation or why he doesn’t intervene.. some examples.. no one can see god because he is a spirit.. but we can hear god---yet he chooses not to talk to humanity.. god only communicates with certain people.
moses, samuel, abraham, etc.
but there are many people today who also claim that god spoke to them yet we ignore them but believe god spoke to people who lived thousands of years ago and we can’t really verify if that was so.

Good question posed by the OP.
If God does exist, he does himself no favours.

Does christianity induce insanity?
by fulltimestudent inthis is happening in western australian indigenous communities .... quote: "some american-based preachers are distributing emails and videos warning that covid-19 vaccines are evil and the work of satan, and the notion has infected some christian communities in the west australian outback.. veteran aboriginal health worker kathy watson said people spreading false information about the covid-19 vaccination and its links to the devil were "mad".".

Political ideology is just as dangerous as religious fanaticism - yes, I absolutely agree.
When we think of suicide bombers we often think of Al Qaeda nutters.
But members of Kurdish separatist groups have blown themselves up in Turkey (I think).
Political ideology can sometimes be more subtle than religious fanaticism but it is still dangerous.
We have biological males - beards penis, testicles, the lot - using female only spaces such as toilets because they claim to be women. This is going on because of trans ideology. If, like me, you believe in questioning things, you can't question this because you're shouted down as a 'terf'.
This is a big issue with ideologies - people who adopt them typically don't want them questioned, even though potential damage could be done.
