  personally the jws to me are not dangerous.

  on the other hand, many do think they are in fact a dangerous cult.

  Absolutely it's dangerous.

  Its a failure of logic to compare one form of danger to another, are sharks more dangerous than tigers?

  You only need to look at the damaged lives, that's all the evidence you need.

  Smiddy, there is always room for doubt. Look at all the studies that show the unreliable nature of eyewitnesses.

  now. there are cases of DNA being proved to be wrong, and fingerprints have been shown to be unreliable for quite some time...

  nothing is black and white.

  In my opinion the whole war of drugs is a joke. Prohibition never works, legalization of drugs would remove the whole need for crime....

  I DO think that life should mean life..

  As a non American, we hear horror stories regularly of things like the three strikes and you're out laws.... it seems that something in the American culture development has taken them on a vastly differing course from the rest do the developed world...

  it's a funny thing, the death penalty is such an American thing.

  I can't see how people can support it for a variety of reasons...

  the economic argument is false, it's much cheaper to keep someone alive for ever in gaol than to execute them, way cheaper.

  Nonone who does such awful thing can be anything other than ill, I'm not saying they are insane, but there is something fundamentally wrong with them.

  It such an easy thing to confuse justice for revenge, and in a civilized country those two things are totally different.

  The innocence project is a frightening example of the real dangers of people being wrongly convicted. What percentage did they speculating are wrongfully convicted?

  But for me, pure and simply, IF I support the death penalty it makes me no better than them, it's murder, hiding it behind the state is no justification...

  "go in through the narrow gate, because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones finding it, or going in through it".

  it's just a story, from an ancient book of stories, I feel somewhat baffled by why people who have been lucky enough to escape from it, feel the need to go back to find meaning in it and to attempt to decode it.

  its all just stories guys. just be nice to each other that's all you need to do.

  Question for active trolley publishers. Are you told not to approach anyone unless they approach you as part of your trolley training?

  I saw one at a very popular tourist area where lots of Chinese tourists visits. all their mags were in Chinese. Another guy approached them and asked, what are you selling? they replied, oh no we're just talking to people about god. Not being alone gave me the impulse to approach them, so i asked what religion are you? they very reluctantly replied JWs, I was near a whole group of Chinese people, and said, OH in a very negative manner and told the Chinese people not to have anything to do with them.. They all looked very warily at it and left..

  What would happen to a Chinese person unlucky enough to get involved? they would end up loosing all their family, their culture,everything.

  imagine telling them they could no longer celebrate Chinese New Year and that they would have to disown their family??

  I walked away feeling physically sick... some things never leave you I believe...

  the late christopher hitchens decribed the word islamophobia as "created by fascists, and used by cowards, to manipulate morons.. please take half an hour to read a fascinating conversation between sam harris and ayaan hirsi ali.. ayaan is an apostate from islam.

  she fled to the netherlands in '92 to escape an arranged marriage and went on to become a member of the dutch government from 2003-2006.. ayaan is now a fellow with the future of diplomacy project at the belfer center for science and international affairs at the harvard kennedy school... she lives with round-the-clock security.. "some moderate muslims hate meand yes, thats a strong word, but i think what theyve said supports itbecause i make them feel uncomfortable.

  the things i talk about put them in a state of dissonance that they cant live with.

  Been very busy so haven't read the whole thread, just came in at the comment where Canadian Muslim women aren't allowed to divorce... not sur where this comes from, as I know several Muslim women who have divorced their husbands, and this is in a developing country.

  I think the basic issue is, just as in Christianity,there are as many different versions of Islam as there are people....

  JW Literature... Lots of it... what to burn and what to keep?

  i have lots and lots of watchtower literature... and i don't know what could be useful in the future to have as a reference or as a keeper.

  i am definitely keeping the 1993 and 1994 bound volumes of the awake!

  (no, we are not false prophets... down in the same page, the generation of 1914 will not pass... also the youths who put god the watchtower first).
